A little bittersweet life update:For the past year, I’ve had the privilege of interning with @bigpicturemedia who house some of your favorite bands. I kept it pretty quiet besides it being in my bio, so a lot of people probably had no idea, but today was officially my last day.I genuinely couldn’t have asked for a better team to learn from. Thank you for trusting me, answering my endless questions, challenging me, and giving me the opportunity to grow in music publicity. Every press release, media list, pitch, and Slack message taught me something I’ll carry with me throughout my career. You guys made me do a full 180° with my degree and move from psychology to media relations <3A special thank you for putting up with my never-ending obsession with the story so far and for accepting my Buff Hello Kitty Slack icon as part of the office culture. I appreciate all of the laughs just as much as the lessons. I also realized we have no pictures together that is so sick and twisted…I’m incredibly grateful for everyone at BPM and everything you’ve done for me. Thank you, BPM. INTRODUCING PUNKAGANDA PRESS ISSUE 01!For our 6th year anniversary, I thought it was finally time to make our first print issue. This is something I’ve [Lexi] been wanting to do for years, and I’ve spent the last couple of months pouring my blood, sweat and tears into building this issue from the ground up. It was hard, so I have a whole different level of respect for those doing biweekly print issues….Punkaganda has always been more than a project to me. It’s been about community, acceptance, perseverance & creating a space for those being thrown into the margins. It’s easy to get burnt out on this, sometimes it becomes overwhelming to bare on my shoulders, but at the end of the day I always have fun running this zine. That’s the point.Seeing a community rally together for this issue has been absolutely incredible. Made some new and rekindled with old friends while building this issue. Thank you to everyone who gave even a little bit of a shit about my endeavors, you and your support truly mean a lot.
