I’ve been scissor happy lately. 🫣
bored? chop. stressed? chop. new season? chop.

So consider this day one of the journey back to waist length. I’m documenting the whole thing so y’all can hold me accountable when the scissors start calling my name again 😅

Also, my skin is really giving unpaid actress, main character energy today. Let’s hope that runs parallel with this hair journey, lol. by @_cheyenne_gray

It’s truly hard to capture the impact of this week within a few short minutes. 💛 #MantleConference2026 was truly amazing! It always feels extra special to me because the conference falls the day after my birthday.

Every year, it feels like the Lord uses this gathering as a reset. A reminder of who He is, who He’s called me to be, and where He’s leading me next. There couldn’t be a better way to step into a new year of life than surrounded by worship, wisdom, community, and the undeniable presence of God.🙌🏽 by @_cheyenne_gray

I can’t quite describe it, but this birthday feels refreshing.

There’s something about your 30s that no one can fully explain until you’re living them. It’s a strange but beautiful combination of feeling more settled while still being stretched. More focused. More anchored. More intentional. It almost feels like you’re finally coming into yourself.

One of my favorite things about this season is that I’m slowly letting go of the pressure to “arrive” and embracing the freedom to become. To keep growing. To keep discovering who God is shaping me into, without feeling like I have to have it all figured out.

There’s a quiet confidence that comes with this age. Less pressure to perform. Less comparison. Less worrying about where everyone else thinks you should be.

Thirty-two feels less like reaching a destination and more like finally enjoying the journey. 🥂 Happy Birthday to MEEEE!💗 by @_cheyenne_gray

Grit has a way of looking glamorous in hindsight, but the women who sat on this panel know the truth: the moments that shaped us rarely happened in front of a crowd. They happened in the quiet, the early mornings, the closed doors, the seasons no one clapped for. To finally sit in a room and speak that out loud, surrounded by women who’ve lived it too, is something I’ll carry for a long time. 💕

And the full-circle moment of it all? My mentee, @andreakelly___ , was one of the moderators. Leading the room, asking the questions, holding the space with a confidence that is entirely her own. Watching someone you’ve poured into step into her purpose is a different kind of joy. That’s what this work is really about!

To @texaschristianuniversity and the women of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated @tcu_akas — thank you for giving us our flowers. 💐 There’s something powerful about being celebrated while you’re still in the middle of the work.🫶🏽 by @_cheyenne_gray

Grief is such an interesting emotion. The range of feelings that swarm all at once can be extremely uncomfortable and unpredictable.

I’ve found myself fully embracing the process though. I’ve experienced loss before, I’ve lost the man who took me in and raised me as his own daughter, I’ve lost a sister, I’ve lost a partner — but losing my grandmother is a feeling I truly can’t describe. The weight in my chest feels heavier, the void feels larger. Truthfully, I thought I understood grief until now.

Someone recently told me that after losing someone, you begin to experience the “years of firsts” — the first holidays, birthdays, ordinary days without them.

And while grief could easily bury me, I’m choosing instead to honor the woman I loved without measure.

So here’s to the years of firsts.
This moment is more than a photo shoot. It’s healing.

This is how I’ll choose to remember you—
the life of the party, the center of our world.

This memory feels fitting… my baby brother dancing with you. No matter how old we got, you were always so quick to come back home to us because, as you said, “the kids need me.”

Even as your strength began to fade, it was hard for you to let go, you worried about leaving us, permanently.
But Granny… you don’t have to worry. God has us covered.

Thank you for 98 beautiful, adventurous, wild (iykyk lol), and love-filled years.
I say it often, people had the privilege of experiencing you, but you were always ours.

There was an intimacy we shared that I still struggle to put into words, even now.

Thank you for always being a constant in my life.
I’ve never known a world without you… and if I’m honest, that thought still frightens me.

Thank you for every sacrifice, every paved way, every struggle you endured to bring us this far.

I’ll love you and honor you forever, my girl.

Until we meet again.

Chapter 31 ✨
This birthday looks and feels different in the most beautiful, grounded, soul-level kind of way.

This past year stretched me, taught me, and centered me even when things felt uncertain. I’ve grown in ways I didn’t expect and sat confidently in rooms and seats that once felt intimidating.

I’ve embraced the peace that comes with knowing I don’t have to do or be it all.

I’ve walked firmly in the power of no.
No to what drains me.
No to what doesn’t align.
No to shrinking.
No, because I finally trust that what’s for me won’t miss me.

I stopped proving. I stopped pleasing.
And in that space, I found yes to myself.
Yes to purpose. Yes to rest. Yes to becoming.

Along the way, I’ve shed quiet fears, embraced hard truths, and watched God move in ways that still leave me speechless.

Thirty-one feels like alignment,
like softness and strength holding hands.
Like standing tall in rooms I once tiptoed into.

Cheers to 31. 🥂 🤍 by @_cheyenne_gray
