I’ve had a few people ask me for my media kit frequently enough & I realized I never posted it to my socials. .If you’re an attendee who would like to see me as a judge, or my panels & workshops at your local con, or any cosplayer you like, at an event as a guest, let your convention know & send them a social media message or email & link them back to our socials. The Knight & the General 🌹⚔️Ughhh I absolutely LOVE these photos of @coatesjk & myself in our Steiner & Beatrix cosplays that @bates_media took of us at Katsu. I think we both knocked it out of the park as them & it fits our friendship dynamic pretty well. I told James I was going to make him to push up drills if he stepped out of line. & maybe I actually did… 💅Beatrix has been the only majorly focussed project I’ve taken on & that was back in February, but I have so many gorgeous photos from our Final Fantasy 9 group I haven’t shared yet. I’ve been so busy with so many events & projects & life things overall that I haven’t had a lot of time to post from my backlog of cosplay photos that I’ve actually sewn this year. Posting General Beatrix today felt appropriate bc as I type this, I’m both preparing to go set up a sewing studio in a new workspace to work on costumes for Warriors in Bloom, & trying to get in the mindset to get back into longsword basics for an exercise I’ll be leading at WiB. As part of the Dragon Fire Tavern art pop-up in July, a month of exciting fantasy-based 21+ events, RVA DRINK & DRAW is an alternative themed live model drawing event for artists of all skill levels, hosted by local professional artist and goblin, Brit Austin Art!🎟️ INFO/TICKETS: TheDragonFireTavern.comRoll for Initiative and get ready to draw our renaissance model of many talents, titles, and tales, Chiara Scuro as she ignites the creative flame under those wings! 💫⭐️ Tossing my cape into the ring while everyone is sharing their Supergirl cosplay photos. A looong time ago I organized a group of friends at Dragoncon for us to do the Adam Hughes “Real Power of DC” art of all the women of DC Comics. Growing up as a teen, Kara was my favorite for so many reasons, & I loved her design in Adam Hughes’ art here. I’m so glad we had the chance to do this not once, but twice. We revamped the group a few years later again at Dragoncon. Last week I had the honor of being the host for the @animenightofficial cosplay exhibition in Norfolk at @theannexnfk. I deeply appreciate the trust Evan & Ezra placed in me & my experience in running & MCing cosplay contests to do this for them. Anime Night is hands down no lie not only one of the best run shows I have ever been a part of, but also one of the most positive, empathetic & welcoming environments I have seen fostered in the cosplay community. & I’m very grateful to help be a part of something this cool & supportive. Giant shoutout to my phenomenal cosplay guests & judges for the evening @hauntednova.cos @castell.exe @akka.robbie @redhinata & @musclestache_cosplay All the applause for our cosplay contest winners: @mortuary.cosplay for first place as Buggy from One Piece, @groov7 as Spider-Man Noir, @_apothecarie as Maki from JJK, and @mr.midnight_cos as David from Cyberpunk: Edgerunners. Your cosplays were absolute fire 🔥HUGE shout out to @wegmills & @shadowrealmmusic. You guys sounded AMAZING & absolutely killed it on stage. I haven’t danced that hard to a live band in so long but the nostalgia bomb hit me hard & I’m pretty sure healed my inner child/teenager. I didn’t know how bad I needed that. Meg, you are literally the kindest & sweetest person & I’m so glad we had a little more time to hang out. Thank you for always being so wonderful & welcoming. 🌹⚔️ Utena post in honor of the Utena movie being in theaters the past two days. Seeing it on the big screen with surround sound, I picked up on so many details younger me missed watching on my small tv & dvd player. Audio noises that changed the meaning of a scene, immersive sounds, details that went by too fast for me to notice before. Watching the series at 14-17 was the first meaningful queer & gender identity impact on my life. The first time I could identify & relate with a storyline, experiences & starting to understand systemic oppression, & one of the first foundations of sapphic knight/sword fighting/duels that laid the foundation for so much of the femme knightcore movement we see today. It’s an incredibly important story to me on a deeply personal level, & something I credit for making me who I am. I have it tattooed on my spine. & it’s been over a decade since I’ve made & done a proper cosplay of her duelist outfit. I need to sit down & sew one again. I have all the materials. The most recent shots I have are of her schoolgirl uniform (that as much as I love how I constructed it, I still want to tear up & do a post-duel shoot in). The film was amazing to watch, especially during Pride month, & one thing I love about the series & movie is I take away different things every time I watch it as I get older. 🧚🌹 The @afterdarkrva Faery Ball last week was so magical. So many people had such gorgeous & creative costumes. I’m so lucky I got to see so many of them in our costume contest. Every one of them deserved the spotlight.I’m also glad I could finally do this little fairy knight design I’ve been wanting to do for years now based on this NPC (who is totally inspired by Utena) from Cookie Run Kingdom. I’d love one day to do a group with friends of all of the cookie fairy knights. Their designs are so pretty.
