The best day of my life!🤍 by @_cierra.dinnall_

Celebrating 2 years of life!💕

Trigger warning!
Today I celebrate being alive for 2 years because on this day 2 years ago I overdosed trying to take my own life. I was at an all time low and at the time didn’t see another possibility or way out of how I was feeling. At that point in my life I felt so alone and felt as if I had no one in my corner even when surrounded by people. I felt like no one would actually miss me or care if I was gone and did not feel as if it mattered if I was here or not. Some people think suicide is selfish and maybe to some extent it is, but I can say that in that moment of hurt I didn’t care about being selfish or hurting others because I just wanted to be free of pain. And I don’t say this for attention, but I speak openly to spread awareness and to hopefully help someone else who may be fighting the same thing. The time in the past two years has definitely not been easy. I’ve had some highs and so many lows but I have been able to grow so much from what I’ve lived through. Fighting through mental health issues is hard and that’s okay. It’s okay to have good days and bad days. I still have days where I am at such a low point that I struggle to keep moving but I do it because over the past two years my people have showed up for me and checked in on me. Yes I was at a very low point but it has made me so much stronger and so much more appreciative of life and I have accomplished so much since then. Even on my bad days, I am at the best point in my life with my people. I wouldn’t be here if I hadn’t experienced everything that has come before now.

So, be aware of the people around you. Pay attention to the way you joke about suicide because the person you’re talking to may be very triggered by it. You truly do not know what someone is going through or has been through. Check in on the people you love and care about, even if they seem fine on the outside. Pay attention to small changes in their behavior. Be supportive of others and never put someone down for their feelings. Always check in on the people around you because a simple conversation could save their lives! Mental health matters! Here’s to many more years of growth ahead! by @_cierra.dinnall_
