POSTS STORIES REELS

In my time of teaching so far I’ve heard a lot of comments along the lines of ‘I’m not very good at yoga’ , ‘I’m just not flexible’ and ‘I tried it once and couldn’t do it’
.
If you have left a yoga class feeling this way you have missed the point or been misguided
.
Yoga welcomes all. It does not judge and nor does it criticise. Yoga is not about how flexible you are or your ability to hold certain poses. It’s not whether you fall out of a balance, or if you can’t access the full extent of an asana
.
It’s showing up. Doing what your body is capable of on that day, in that moment. It’s about the process, not the impossible Instagram pose. It’s being present, challenging yourself, not taking yourself too seriously, having fun with it, falling out of the pose and getting back in
.
And it’s not just about yourself, it’s bigger than you. One of the meanings of the word yoga is union, derived from the Sanskrit word yuj. I see this not only as integrating the body, mind, and spirit - but also uniting people
.
Yoga is for all
.
I love that this moment was captured on our recent retreat, of people from all different backgrounds coming together, some regular yogis and some newbies, and just giving it a go! A pleasure to teach🥲🙏🏼⭐️ by @_claudiarose_flows

WEEKLY INTENTION 💭
.
Ahimsa (literally translated from Sanskrit as ‘absence of injury’) is the first of 5 Yamas (restraints/moral vows harmonising our relationship to other beings), and promotes non-violence. The Yamas are the first of Patanjalis 8 limbed path.
.
Ahimsa is said to be our first duty when practising yoga, and I would go further to say it is our first duty in everyday life. After all, the true practice of yoga happens off the mat.
.
It has never been more apparent, with the conflict in today’s world, that violence is completely counterproductive to peace. I believe our relationships with others should always come from a place of Ahimsa.
.
As a reminder of the above I will be using Ahimsa as my intention this week - in my own practice, my teaching and my every day life 🤍 by @_claudiarose_flows

A little yoga moment at @nobumarrakech 🌴

Restoring balance with a little getaway was exactly what I needed. This week back in London rushing around teaching and dancing has felt that little bit easier after having a restful week and removing myself from the chaos. Here is your reminder to check in with your mental and physical health and recognise when you need a break🤚🏼🧖🏼‍♀️ by @_claudiarose_flows

Flowing into a New Year🙏🏼 by @_claudiarose_flows

If you need a little midweek reset I highly recommend putting on Studio Ghibli Jazz playlist, lighting a few candles and doing a very gentle, Yin style flow
.
Don’t underestimate the power of setting the mood and giving yourself a bit of time on the mat. Small mindful movements and heavenly music is sometimes all you need to restore that mental&physical balance ☯️ by @_claudiarose_flows

Young emo Clauds used to love this song and it seemed fitting 🍁
.
Still adjusting to temperature changes and the extra work I have to put in to get my body warm🌝
.
Be gentle with yourself this Autumn, it can be daunting going into winter months, mourning summer and reluctantly we welcome darker shorter days🌚
.
It’s a reminder that the world keeps turning in its cycle and we just have to move with it
.
🦔The animals hibernate, and everything in my being is telling me to do the same. But I’m trying to lean into the dramatic shift Autumn brings and find joy in the small things like cups of coffee and the countdown to Christmas 😊

Keep moving 🙏🏼 by @_claudiarose_flows
