The other day I made a post about @zoe_raccoon_22 and her competing in Jiu jitsu for the past 7 years. This picture had really stuck with me since it was taken in Portland in February of 2024. It was mine and Zoë’s first trip together and it was only me and her. We went out to Portland knowing one of her brackets was going to be impossible for her she had just turned 11 and was the smallest in the bracket. She still went out there and did her thing. She didn’t get the results she wanted and lost her first 3 matches, walked away with a Bronze that day. This picture was between brackets and the first time she had been swept without a win. I was playing Coach , Daaad and friend that day. The look on her face in this picture breaks my heart and the look on my face is nothing but confusion and me trying to figure out how to keep her head on straight after her telling me she wanted to leave. I didn’t know what to say or do so I just told her we are not leaving this SHIT HOLE city without a WIN !!!! Her next match she went out there got her only Win for the day via submission and then we went snow tubing. Just because shit doesn’t go your way doesn’t mean you give up and just because you don’t know what the correct thing to say doesn’t mean you stay quiet. This was a long and fun trip and it was the start of a journey to the top with Zoe that I will NEVER EVER FORGET. THANK YOU to those who helped along the way and to those who didn’t I hope you get what you deserve one day. #TEAMSZURA #TEAMZOE #benotorious #beunstoppable #dadanddaughter❤️. Nothing is impossible @zoeszurajiujitsu this picture is living proof. You were ranked 99th when this day was over and finished the season ranked 4th in the WORLD BE IMMENSELY PROUD OF YOURSELF!!!!! by @_coach_billy

Well that’s all folks. The 24 month journey to reach ADCC YOUTH WORLDS is over. @zoe_raccoon_22 @zoeszurajiujitsu and I started this journey solo back in February of 2024 in Portland and it started out pretty rough. The journey was a blast the experience to travel the country with her was something I think a father can only dream of doing. To me it was never about the results I wanted Zoe to stick to her goal and see it through. She battled through adversity like a true champion. Gymless for 1.5 months , broken hand with 3 events left and at the final event earned her spot and saw her dream to fruition. As a Daaad there truly is no greater feeling than seeing your kid chase something down until it became hers. Thank you @zoeszurajiujitsu for letting go on this journey with you. Thank you @glicious218 for holding it down. @_coach_billy and @notorious_jws thank you for breathing life back into our Champion when she needed it the most. Things didn’t work out the way we hoped and that’s perfectly fine it’s life and we must go on. Lastly @zoeszurajiujitsu refer to RULE #4 don’t ever let a single person on this earth including ME tell you it can’t be done. I love you more than you’ll ever know and it will always stay that way. Know your worth at all times 😘❤️🙏. #unbreakablebond🔐❤️ #alwaysandforevermychampion #fatheranddaughter #rideofalifetime by @_coach_billy

Two years ago me and @zoeszurajiujitsu took our first solo trip together to Las Vegas to watch the first ADCC Youth Worlds. After the first picture she told me she wanted to get invited to the next one in 2026. I wasn’t working much and we were dead broke. I told her we would see what we could afford and travel when we could. Well 2 years later over 10 months of traveling all over the country together she’s one week away from completing her dream to compete for a World Championship at age 11. Never in a million years did I expect our talk with @lifted_roots over 8 years ago would lead her here. It’s been awesome and a true blast watching this little lady become an elite grappler. She got here with 3 training partners and 1 coach. In the end @zoeszurajiujitsu @_coach_billy @notorious_jws you guys earned this. by @_coach_billy
