13 years ago today after a romantic date at the very fancy Olive Garden, I nervously asked you to be my girlfriend (thinking asking on Valentine’s Day was a good idea 🙄😂). Little did I know that after an amazing 13 years of love and growth that we would be building a beautiful family together.

Thanks for being my best friend. Thanks for laughing at all my jokes. Thanks for being my rock. Thanks being patient with me. Thanks for being the best mom to Liliana. Thanks for being the one.

I started my coaching journey 15 years ago. I fell in love with coaching for 2 reasons. The first was the relationships and the ability to build lasting relationships. The second was coaching gave me a platform to transform lives.

Last night was special for me as I had many of my former players all in one spot. Everyone in this picture is a former player of mine and all are doing extremely well in their current chapter in life. I know with all of these (as well as everyone I’ve ever coached) that their is a lasting relationship, as I will always be in their corner and be their biggest cheerleader in life. But what I don’t know is if I transformed their lives as much as they all have done mine! Regardless I’m grateful!

Many don’t know this but I started coaching when I was just 18 years old. I don’t know if it was because I was new to coaching or because of my young age, but I do know I did more things wrong then I did right. One thing I often reflect back on is how grateful I am for the first teams that I coached and how they still bought in and listened to an 18 year old kid who had no idea what they were doing.

Isaiah David was on those teams and was one of the first players to believe in me as a coach. Isaiah was one of the first players to tell me he looked up to me. Isaiah was one of the first players that made me fall in love with coaching. Isaiah was one of the first players that made me fall in love with the relationship/mentorship side of coaching. Today I learned that Isaiah was unfortunately my first in something else. Today I got the call that Isaiah passed away.

Isaiah had a smile that would light up any room. Isaiah was a goofball that would make you laugh on your worst day. Isaiah had such a positive spirit and energy that he approached life with everyday. Isaiah had a very genuine, caring, and loving heart. Isaiah had a smooth game, who was not only the best player he was also the most unselfish player. Isaiah was an old soul and was mature beyond his years. Isaiah was very humble and respectful. Isaiah was someone I looked up to.

Thank you Isaiah for believing in me. Thank you for changing my life. Thank you for being Isaiah. Praying for your son and your family. I love you and will miss you. by @_coach_steve89
