until then, bisan - we will keep striking, boycotting, and talking about palestine.

this was a drawing from 2019 hong kong with the words "until you are free" - they were for myself then, they are for gaza now. original drawing in the slides.

i also included my own notes of what i'll do this week to support the global strike. working primarily freelance i have much more freedom than most people, but it really can be very simple. hold off on whatever extra spending you can. take a moment to share information on gaza. every action helps, every person counts. for friends who are participating, remember to take care of yourself. we're in it until palestine is free, no matter how long it takes

journalists in gaza:

@motaz_azaiza
@hindkhoudary
@byplestia

🇵🇸🇵🇸🇵🇸 i decided. — friends: if you ever liked this, or any other Miyazaki film, keep your eyes on Gaza.

my arm still hurts from injury so i drew slowly. but nothing compares to the pain endured by Palestinians. the UN general assembly vote for ceasefire is tomorrow December 12. keep your eyes on Gaza.

here’s this one by itself because i like the sense of space (+some character exploration). swimming in pools is refreshing but also inherently a bit scary to me.

the closest halloween-y thing i have to post which is some of my visdev exploration for the thriller animated short “Bloodswim” (2021) directed by @jakeweirdpower ! thanks for taking a chance on me back then, you taught me so much leading this project.

was very much thinking about robert valley in the first slide.

process!

beginning to end in procreate. i thought it would be fun to try to keep it in one app, but pppprobably won’t do it again… very excited for procreate dreams.
i took some of what i learned color-picking for the ghibli screencap redraw into the color design, which i always feel is my weak point. nevertheless very fun :]

rough animation originally made for animated inktober day 5 “map”

ghibli redraw night with @asianqueensanimation from earlier this month! i was thinking how yoneyama mai might design the shadows of this scene while still keeping with the very 90s anime color palette by michiyo yasuda. (i directly picked from the reference image yes)
