In honor of the upcoming SECOND knee surgery of 2024, here’s a whole bunch of fun stuff that I did that I can’t do right now.. set with intention to an apathetic, melancholic song. A subtle glimpse into the stark dichotomy of fond nostalgia and begrudging discontent I find myself navigating at the moment. I hope it’s at least somewhat fun to watch.. it was fun to make and cathartic to really process how much of me is tied to what I can do physically, and how to approach where I’m at right now as an opportunity rather than a burden. Happy Hump Day! Crazy to think in a couple months he’ll be 10 years old 🤯

Everybody give your dog some love some pats and some scratches and remember to appreciate the fact that like.. what the fuck is literally anything? We get DOGS?? Something THAT perfect existing is so unlikely and random and weird and totally bizarre.. and through all this biological zoological haphazardry SOMEHOW WE GOT DOGS???? With all that is wrong in this enormous nebulous inexplicable universe being blessed with the existence of these companions DRASTICALLY softens the blow.

Humphrey.. is as much a child as he is a wise old man.. both my caretaker and dependent.. almost silent but his character (and eyes) speak volumes.. he’s 1 part perfect gentleman and 1 part absolute DAWG..
Humphrey gracefully and effortlessly provides a conclusive answer to the colloquial, idiomatic and often existential ponderance that is “who’s a good boy?”.. and oh boy, I mean goodness me boy is he a great good boy! Boy howdy, good god such a good boy.. SO GOOD yet somehow all the while remaining steadfast and unwavering in his commitment to being b-b-b-b-bad, bad to the bone..

Here’s to you Humphrey.. we’ve been through some SHIT but we sure did get through it.. I’m lookin forward to less battle and more banquet..

To be a part of the two families that these men established (with the help of two of the most incredible women to walk the face of the earth) means more to me than I could even begin to express within the confines of this post.. and while I was drawing these, and every time I see these drawings next to my desk it’s a reminder to try a little harder, be a little better, and act a little more like someone they’d be proud of. I do believe that I’m getting just a skosh closer each day. But what’s even more astounding, is although they aren’t here anymore, while they WERE here they conducted themselves in such an influential way that they’re still teaching me and leading me from wherever it is their spirits are right now. And that’s not bullshit.. like the drawings of them straight up parent me from the shelf when I’m being less than I can be and should be and to have descended from these guys is the reason I’ve been able to experience, navigate and appreciate the life I have to the degree that I have, and I am and will try dutifully to continue to do so. (Also just for the record, they passed quite a while ago.. this isn’t that kinda post.. I’m just endlessly stoked on these two fellas) by @_condiment_king_
