I love writing lively, revealing dialougue, and "Charades" was a literal solo giggle fest to make.

Jocelynn and Liz are two longtime friends who regularly travel together, but their disposable income and self-involved worldviews get a shake-up in this banter-filled romp around St. Kitts & Nevis island.

Think "White Lotus" 🏵
(Fun fact about me, I worked in a Four Seasons hotel in southern California while in college, so I especially enjoy indulging in the series and this genre)

Aside from leaning all the way in on writing the humor and complexities of female friendships and adult relationship drama, I also learned a lot about St. Kitts and Nevis while researching how to navigate the women around the island. (Hello travel bug!)
I truly enjoyed exploring writing characters that are far from perfect and a little unhinged, and though this story does pull through into a happ(ier) ending, I laughed a lot getting there amidst Jocelynn and Liz’s dysfunction.

I'm happy to clean up or inject some fun into your story's dialogue and character interactions or help you ghostwrite those pivotal conversations that carry storylines from one scene to the next.

(2/2) A few more morsels of “Specter Light” to keep you guessing! Now the mystery of Taylor’s real identity deepens as we peel back some of the layers of what Brent experienced during his hypnosis session with her and finding out more about what is disrupting his sleep at night. In his confession (no, I’m not going to give you all the ☕️, sorry!) is where the reader is also introduced to Lina. The blurring of identities and timelines intensifies as the two cousins and lifelong friends search the city for the elusive Taylor at Midtown Brews, where she used to work, and finally by finagling their way into her apartment.

What do you think is waiting there for Brent? Will he learn who Taylor truly is?

(1/2) Why is Brent waking up every morning feeling like he hasn’t slept at all? Who is Taylor really, what did she do to him, and where did she go?
“Spectre Light” is a speculative fiction story set in modern day Chicago. It follows the lives of Brent, his cousin Nicole, and Nicole’s ex-girlfriend, Taylor, who has seemingly disappeared into thin air.

The story centers around one family’s tragic history that's still reverberating into the present and is set against the backdrop of non-traditional therapies. It explores how memory functions and is shaped, the nature of reality, and features supernatural encounters. While this story unravels into something truly heart-wrenching and definitely spooky, it was a great opportunity to apply how “alternative” therapies and life itself can provide unexpected means of closure while simultaneously cracking our very perceptions of time and reality wide open.

The murky character personalities and their questionable actions, coupled with the up-for-interpretation ending, were so fun to explore and craft. But I think my favorite part to write was the shifting timelines and slowly inching out the line of truth that mattered most in the end.
