Sometimes you buy what you can afford, build some equity, let life happen for a few years—and eventually realize you’re ready for something different.

That transition can come with a lot of questions: What is the home worth? How much equity do you actually have? Does selling make sense, or could keeping it as a rental be the better move?

Owning an Airbnb is definitely not completely passive income… but it can be a pretty fun side of real estate to learn.

There’s a lot that goes into making a short-term rental actually work—from finding the right property and understanding the numbers to managing guests, maintenance, cleaning, and everything in between.

I’ve learned a ton from hosting our own property, and I’m always happy to talk with anyone who’s curious about getting into the short-term rental game or wondering whether a property could make sense as an Airbnb.
