Tierras sagradas 🤍🌵

For a long time, I carried a lot of shame and guilt around having a hospital birth ❤️‍🩹
Giving birth during the pandemic was a traumatic experience on its own.I entered my birth hopeful, but what unfolded along the way left me with memories that were difficult to process. Although I was able to deliver my baby vaginally, I remember feeling unprepared, afraid, weak, as though I had lost my voice and my power.
I felt like I couldn’t fully surrender and enter the birth portal. Looking back, I recognize how much of that experience continued to shape my postpartum journey.
After my own experience, I felt a deep calling toward doula work. I wanted to become the kind of support I needed. Someone who could remind a mother that her voice matters and that she deserves to feel supported, informed, and respected throughout her journey. My mission has never been about where someone gives birth or how their birth unfolds. Whether at home, in a birth center, or in a hospital, every family deserves a birth team that honors their wishes, supports their decisions, and walks alongside them without judgment 🫀
Birth is unpredictable plans can change, circumstances can shift, and sometimes the journey looks different than we envisioned . This is why I have made it my commitment to continue learning and gathering the tools to support families wherever their birth journey takes them.
Healing from my own experience has been a beautiful and ongoing journey. What once felt like a story filled with grief has become part of the foundation of the work I do today. As I look toward 2027, I am excited to continue holding space for families, offering grounded, compassionate support, and helping mothers feel informed, empowered, and deeply supported as they enter one of life’s most transformative portals.

For him, I continue to dream, to learn, to grow, and to believe in what is possible. 🌞
Sol’s birth opened a portal for me
A doorway into a path I didn’t yet know I was walking.
Through his birth, I realized the power of being held, witnessed, and supported.
It awakened an ancestral calling in me
A remembering.
A calling to return to the ways of supporting birth, postpartum, families, and community.
After nine months of study, hands on work, and learning alongside my community with @southernbirthjustice , I am deeply honored to say that I am a Birth Justice Doula. 🌿
This is not just a title, It’s a commitment to continue learning, to make this support more accessible to my community, and to walk alongside families during one of the most transformative thresholds of their lives.
I step into this path with gratitude for those who came before me, for the women and birth workers who carried this knowledge through generations, my family, mentors , and for the families who trust me to walk beside them. 💛

En el barro me encuentro 🌿
Entre sus silenciosas enseñanzas,
aprendo a soltar,
a confiar en la incertidumbre
A honrar el fuego que transforma
y a reconectar con un puente que creía olvidado 🤲🏽🔥 by @_del_mar

Hola, I’m Maria Del Mar, the other half of Ayasham 🐚

I believe our hands carry stories older than ourselves. Between motherhood and the quiet devotion of making, I return to clay as one returns to an ancient tongue.
As I begin my journey as a doula, I continue to discover how birth and creation are woven from the same thread. Both invite surrender, both ask us to trust the wisdom held within 🤲🏽

Clay, this ancient keeper of memory, has become my teacher. Through it I honor lineage, healing, and the unseen hands that shaped the path before mine. Every vessel is an offering a prayer molded from earth, fire, and love. 🪶

Thank you for welcoming our work into your life. We hope this collection finds you exactly when it’s meant to and reminds you of your own connection to the earth, to your ancestors, and to the beauty of creating with intention 🫀 by @_del_mar

A gentle reintroduction 🌿

I’ve been sharing little pieces of my life here, allowing this space to evolve alongside me. Lately, I’ve felt called to share more intentionally about motherhood, art, the lands that guide me, and the path that has been unfolding as a birth guardian.
The first seed of this work was planted during my own postpartum journey after the birth of my son, Sol. Motherhood opened a doorway into this sacred path . It softened me, transformed me, and led me back to the ancestral wisdom that has always lived within me.
After two years of devoted study, ceremony, and deep integration, I feel honored to begin walking alongside families as they welcome new life into the world.
It feels fitting that this new season began in the Andes of Peru, where ceremony reminded me I am guided and protected by the Apus and Pachamama. I look forward to sharing more of that journey in the Andes.

Thank you for being here and witnessing this unfolding 🤍🏔️

Yesterday marked the final ceremony of our pilgrimage beneath the presence of Ausangate, the most sacred Apu in the Q’ero tradition. As our offering was made to Pachamama and the mountain spirits, we each received our final kuya—a medicine stone entrusted to us as a living reminder of this path.

A kuya is far more than a stone. It is considered a sacred medicine object, often gathered from places of immense spiritual significance, carrying the living presence of the mountains, lakes, and the unseen world. In the hands of a Don Pasqual & Doña Santusa it becomes a vessel for transformation, helping transmute heavy energies (hucha) into something fertile and life-giving.

The Q’ero people, regarded as the direct descendants of the Inca, have preserved a worldview rooted in ayni—the sacred principle of reciprocity. To receive is to give. To take from the Earth is to return an offering. Every despacho is an act of gratitude, a prayer for balance between ourselves, Pachamama, and the Apus who watch over these lands.

Standing before Ausangate, I was reminded that the mountain asks for nothing except presence. Its glaciers nourish entire valleys, just as its teachings nourish something far less visible within us.

I leave this pilgrimage carrying more than a stone. I leave carrying a responsibility—to walk with greater reciprocity, deeper gratitude, and a renewed remembrance that nature is not separate from us, but a living relationship to be honored every day.
