Car Week a couple weeks ago was as packed a schedule as ever and the cars and people on the Peninsula was off the charts. Maybe seeing through the eyes of a 9 year old car obsessed kid gave me a new perspective, actually bringing the fun back into it all in many ways.

Thank you Rob Manson, organizer of the Pebble Beach Road Racing group, for getting an impressive group of cars that raced on the Forest 75 years ago, which really is what started all of this car week business anyhow. Respect.

The 1950 Parkinson Jag XK120 that I drove at Laguna Seca and represented as entrant at Concours was originally driven by Don Parkinson, my dad’s brother-in-law at the time. The car had a new body put on after he crashed it in 1951, making it the ‘special.’ What a blast to drive! by @_derek.hill

In typical Goodwood Festival of Speed fashion, current Formula One drivers were popping up everywhere, and in my run group the Red Bull RB17 suddenly appeared with Isack Hadjar at the wheel for his first run up the hill.
I got to be right there as he climbed into the car, grabbed a photo with him, and then followed the RB17 back down the hill, listening to it the whole way. Hearing that thing in person is on a completely different level.
The RB17 itself is wild to see up close—Adrian Newey’s track-only, no-rules vision. The details, the aero, the way it sits on the ground…💨
Despite a bit of a messy launch off the line, Isack explained the car is still about a year away from being fully dialed in, which somehow makes it even cooler to witness at this stage.

Yesterday was kind of a full circle moment for me in several ways - Back in 2008 the first moments supporting #parkinsons tied to my friendship with Phil Hill - and for his 80th birthday Jeff Ehoodin @husqrvana and I brought him out to Laguna Seca during a WAJ Media day for what became Phil’s last time on track in a #Maserati MC 12 - after he passed away we brought the car back and sold passenger hot laps in the same car with Phil’s son Derek Hill @_derek.hill driving again.

We gave that first $7500 we raised to Dr. Bill Langston at The Parkinson’s Institute, which has sadly closed. - but here’s the full circle, Dr. Langston is now at the Stanford University Center of Excellence for Parkinson’s - and not only is he treating our aunt - but the money we raised yesterday at the @genauautowerks Open Haus is being donated to Dr Langston once again, and a portion of those funds were raised in a silent auction with the sale of the below painting on canvas, signed by none other than Phil Hill…. So yes, full circle.

First Dodger game for the boy and an epic one it is! Game 5 of NLDS. Sitting here in the same section I watched games growing up watching Garvey, Sax, Hershiser, Valenzuela, Honeycutt etc!

Out on the coast this morning for 40th annual California coastal clean up day with @thecaliforniacoast . It’s actually pretty awful how much litter there is everywhere out there along our coastline, so much of which ends up in the ocean. It feels good to do a small part. A couple hundred cigarette butts, beer cans, vape pens, plastic bags, plastic bottles, lids, wrappers, etc etc later we turned in a few bags of waste for trash and recycling. A few years back I produced a shoot with the replicas of my father’s championship winning Ferrari 156 Sharknose. We took the cars to Zandvoort in Holland where this weekend’s F1 race is. In 1961 my father battled his teammate Wolfgang Von Trips for the title and they finished 1-2 in Holland. We also made stops at the French GP circuit of Reims, and made a stop in Burg Hemmersbach where Von Trips’s family estate and tomb is. This is a small homage to my father’s legacy and part of an ongoing project to tell his story.

Well, it isn’t my car but I’m so grateful to be along for the journey. A second place in a very competitive class. The kids were so stoked to ride shotgun over the ramp. I really do love this place. What a tradition it’s been throughout my life. Huge congrats to the Pebble Beach Concours team for pulling off another great show!

I got a last minute call from the owner of a Bugatti EB110 competition model that I drove at Daytona 24 Hours in 1996. It’s great to be back at Pebble Beach and reunited with the car!

Amazing to see Ferrari back on top at the Le Mans 24 Hours. In 1958 my dad would secure his first victory at Le Mans driving a Ferrari. 66 years later they do it again! Much like this year’s race, rain storms were a major factor.
