Some people you book.
Some people become part of the story.

Aline & Mika, thank you for taking a chance on Disco Kitchen, on Zurich and on us. For coming back, for giving us so much more than incredible music, and for embracing this slightly crazy little family with such an open heart.

You recently wrote that it isn‘t easy being abroad, not being able to be spontaneous and yourself because of the language barrier.

Maybe there is something beautiful in that too: when language hides humour and spontaneity, it can make the heart all the more visible. We‘ve been lucky enough to see quite a lot of yours.

Muito amor

Little throwback to last year’s madness at Disco Kitchen, hosting Illuminarium’s floor. We can’t wait to be back this year for more disco and dancing.

You get one ride in the time machine.

One night. One dancefloor. One legendary moment in club history! Where will you dance?

SPACE, IBIZA — 2016
The Final Closing

October 2, 2016. After 27 years, one of the most legendary clubs in electronic music closes its doors for the final time. More than 100 artists, thousands of dancers and Carl Cox behind the decks. Not just the end of a party, but the end of an era that helped define Ibiza and global club culture.

PARADISE GARAGE, NEW YORK — 1987
The Closing Night

September 26, 1987. Larry Levan behind the decks at 84 King Street. Paradise Garage put the DJ, the sound system and the dancefloor at the centre of everything. A sanctuary for New York’s Black, Latino and gay communities, its influence on house music and modern club culture is almost impossible to overstate. One last night inside one of the most important dancefloors in history.

POWER HOUSE, CHICAGO — 1986
The Opening Night

October 25, 1986. Frankie Knuckles opens the Power House in Chicago. House music is still young, raw and largely underground — but something enormous is happening. This is a chance to experience the sound in the city where it was born, while the culture that would eventually conquer dancefloors around the world was still taking shape.

Enjoy the trip🥳

25 YEARS OF ANOTHER CHANCE ❤️

The voice from @djrogersanchez „Another Chance“ actually comes from somewhere unexpected: Toto’s “I Won’t Hold You Back” from 1982. Sanchez had bought a pile of records in Montreal and, while digging through them for samples, stumbled across Toto IV. From a tiny fragment of an early-80s rock ballad, he created one of the most emotional house records ever made.

Released on July 2001, “Another Chance” went all the way to No. 1 in the UK, knocking aside some of the biggest pop records of that summer.

But maybe the reason we still feel this record 25 years later isn’t only the music.

It’s that heart. ❤️

For the video, French director Philippe André didn’t make a conventional dance-music clip. He wrote a little film about loneliness. Over two nights in New York, shot on 16mm film, actress Kelly Hutchinson walked through the city carrying an absurdly enormous red heart. She tries to connect with people.

They stare. They avoid her. They reject her.

And with every rejection, her heart gets smaller. Until finally, when it has almost disappeared, somebody notices her.

A man asks her for coffee. Her heart grows again.

And then comes the beautifully cruel ending: the next morning he sees her again — with that enormous heart restored to its full size. And he walks away.

A huge heart can be beautiful.
It can also be heavy.
It can scare people away.
It can get hurt, shrink, recover — and somehow still become huge again.

Happy 25th birthday, “Another Chance”. ❤️

@melvobaptiste is more than a DJ — he’s a tastemaker, curator and one of the key voices shaping contemporary house culture, actively defining its present while honouring and protecting its roots.

Born and raised in South London, Melvo grew up immersed in jazz, soul, funk, gospel and early house. Those foundations run deep in everything he does. For him, house is not entertainment first — it’s culture, history and community.

As a DJ, Melvo Baptiste is known for deep, patient sets that unfold with intention. No rush, no shortcuts. His approach is rooted in music traditions and the original idea of the dancefloor as a shared, spiritual space.

Beyond the club, Melvo plays a defining role as A&R for Glitterbox, helping shape one of the most influential house platforms of our time. Broadcasted globally and reaching hundreds of thousands of listeners, the Glitterbox Radio Show is widely regarded as the most important house radio show in the world today. Week after week, Melvo sets the tone — connecting new releases with timeless records, spotlighting emerging artists while honouring the roots. It’s education, curation and dancefloor energy in one voice.

Alongside this, Melvo is a long-time NTS Radio host and the founder of The Remedy, his London-based party series focused on deep, conscious house music.

Across radio, club and label work, his mission stays consistent: Protect the roots, push the culture forward and keep house honest.

We're more than thrilled to bring Melvo this Saturday to Zurich. Doors at @sohozurich open 22:30.

Slide through the gallery and get to see and hear what you can expect this Saturday.

Melvo will share the stage with @romanblummusic @djbazooka @milkydiamond.archive & @kinnaribitch ❤️

Even though this year has not been an easy one for many of us, it makes it all the more special that the last celebration of the year was filled with so many smiling faces.

The song for the recap video chose itself, and with that spirit we step into the new year, trying to keep one simple thought in mind in everything we do: it costs nothing to feel good, to give someone a smile, and to do something kind.

Thank you for sharing your art, passion and love with us @romanblummusic @lucy_fizz @shakedownofficial @dj_pippi @djjamielewis @illuminarium.ch @nessaya 🫶🏾
