Happy 70th Birthday to my dad, your favorite drummer's favorite drummer, Jimmy Kober. You taught me rhythm, and the importance of big heartfelt hugs, and how to bodysurf the toughest waves, and how to hold my breath from one end of the pool to the other, and to dip a nice crusty piece of bread in a good sauce, and to look up at the stars, and to always embrace the artist in me. To know my grandpa, Vincent Harrison, was to love him. He was sunshine and joy to everyone who had the fortune of knowing him. From the time I was little all I knew was that this man was as selfless as they come. He loved his family, he served his country, he went to church every sunday, and volunteered on a daily basis at a nursing home after he retired, helping to care for others with a smile on his face. Even though I grew to be twice his size, I would be lucky to be half the man he ever was.Throughout 96 years of a life well spent he was a brother, a husband, a father, an uncle, a grandpa, and even a great grandpa. It is difficult to put into words the pain I feel from his passing so I believe it's better to focus on the sunshine and joy I felt when he was around. Like all the times I would hear him whistle while we'd walk to the nursing home, or the small exchanges we would have with one another that would make us laugh without even saying a word, and of course him being there to witness my wife Cat and I get married, but my favorite will always be how special I felt knowing that you wrote in every single card to me -"To my one and only Grandson" We were away from you this weekend but I think you'd be happy to know that as a family we finally saw the Mets win a game in person and I thought of you the whole time. And while we were at that wedding, around the time you passed, Grandma's song, "I'm Walking on Sunshine", came on, and mom and I danced and danced. Looking back, we both knew that was Grandma saying that she has you now and that you're okay.You and I had lunch together in a diner once and I asked you what it was like being with Grandma. You said, "We traveled, my wife and I," with a longing in your voice.I'm so happy to know you're traveling with Grandma again.I'll miss you so much, Grandpa.
