From tonight’s 3 hour livestream drawing on TikTok. I am really enjoying this. Today I had someone I follow from NFLD show up and she watched for 45 min. It was really nice. And I got gifts so I made 38 cents USD 😆 by @_dmnart

Tonight I did my first Live on TikTok. It wasn’t as awful as I expected. I got just over 100 views and 2 new follows. But… I used a tripod and my iPhone to record it but I could not figure out a way to connect that to my iPad so I couldn’t see comments or interactions. I looked it up and it’s not really clear how to do it other than with an app. But the App Store showed that it was an AI app so I don’t want to use that one. It’s annoying. Any suggestions from other creatives? #artist #tiktok #illustration by @_dmnart

Making mistakes is an important part of illustration or painting - or life in general, I suppose. A mistake is an opportunity to solve a problem. The way I tend to handle a mistake in a drawing is to move to a different part and leave it be. Work on something that is easy and then return to the part you don’t like. Now it might seem less tragic. In this piece I don’t like Dosh’s eye. When I went into it I had a different idea and I messed it up. I can’t undo it - this isn’t an iPad. So I figure I just need to create enough interesting elements around the face so as to distract the viewer from the part I am unhappy with. It’s still not what I wanted and that’s okay. It’s just different. If I finish and I really do want to perfect it, I’ll remove him from the sketchbook and put her on a light table or I’ll take a photo and recreate it with a digital pen. But the important part is that I made the mistake and kept going. I made a mental note to detail my under-drawing a little more next time. Always improving.

01 & 03 Micron pen on paper. Meet Eyevan. He collects eyeballs. This drawing is approx 9x5? I’ll have to measure this sketchbook and report back.
