Chasing Pavements, what an incredible story we are writing together! If you’ve been to a chasing pavements run club please comment your experience and hopefully it help another person join us - every single Tuesday evening, we gather in different locations and support each other’s journey, no matter what your fitness level is, we get behind each other and get out and get it done ✅

Thank you to @doireanns_kitchen for taking the time last night to record some behind the scenes footage of what we are trying to achieve with @chasingpavementsrunclub (drop a follow as we are launching this page soon) she captured some amazing shots 📸

In the beginning I really didn’t know what to expect from this social run, but soon after starting I realised that a lot of people were afraid to join because of the distance or the pace and that’s when @iliketoruntrails got in behind it and we could now facilitate two running groups, which still didn’t meet the demand that we needed, we added @trackwitmac @ainzyquinn @ryan.annemarie and @john_stephens90 to join us so we could bring more runners out on the road and we are now developing more plans to make this even bigger again, shout out @tipp_town for sharing the location every week 💪

Massive thank you to you, the runners, to everyone who shares my posts, comments on videos, reacts to stories, has supported me from day dot, without your continued support and without you spreading the message we are trying to send we just wouldn’t have the community built without you 🙏

And most importantly thank you to @lauraryan_ for continuing to support the mad notions that appear in my head and for believing that I could do something like this and build an amazing platform, the minute Joshua is able to join us he will be out running with us 🏃‍♂️

See you next Tuesday night, location TBC 🫡

You’ll see progress, you just need to be patient ⏳

Zone 2 running is arguably the toughest run you can do. You know you’ve more pace in you, you’re hardly sweating or out of breath, you’re asking yourself what’s the point but in fact, you’re doing 10x more good than the person who goes out and runs in zone 4 every run.

We all want our ego and our strava to look perfect but it’s just not sustainable, it takes so many long boring runs to get that zone 2 heart rate down but you must be patient with it, keep turning up, even when there’s someone absolutely tearing you to shreds on the track with their pace, park the ego, improve your zone 2 for longevity and to get faster over time 🕰️

If you’re not sure what zone 2 even means head to my page where I have it broken down for you and you’ll understand it more after a 15 second video. While you’re there drop me a follow 💪

It all happens so quickly 😅

4 marathons, I actually cannot believe iv even attempted a marathon never mind 4 😂

The fucking pain of finishing one of these things like, it’s no joke. I’d love to tell you it’s easy, it’ll be a breeze, ah shur you’ll be fine… unfortunately, I’d be lying 🤥

So tough to get to start line of a marathon, and the end line… look all I can say is that it’s worth it and it’s even sweeter when you’ve aimed for a time and it’s paid off (in my experience, this has only happened once 😂)

To be honest, I’d to learn a hard lesson on this journey before I respected this distance and I know so many people tried to warn me about it and I didn’t listen to anyone, I had to do it my own to learn, some people are just like that and that’s me.

It could be written down in front of my face but unless I step into it and experience it myself I won’t learn 😂

If you want to tackle one of these monsters you can, but you have to want it, you have to want it badder than bad and yes there will be moments where you wish you never signed up for the thing but you just have to push yourself waaaay out of the comfort zone and you’ll get there 🫡

I’m feeling very proud, it doesn’t take a marathon to prove you’re into running or that you like running or that you’re a runner but here’s something for you, running will teach you more about yourself than you’ll ever imagine, it’ll teach you how to be disciplined, how to commit and how to never give up.

And all it is, in its simplicity.. is moving forward, one foot after the next. As the saying goes..

“how do you eat an elephant? One bite at a time”

Took some beatings to get there, but..

Got out, got it done ✅

Thanks reading and thanks for your support ❤️ by @_dwruns

Worked my goddamn ass off for this one ☝️

What a block, what an effort, what a day and what an amazing family, set of friends and colleagues I have been blessed to have in my corner. Between being in the course, trains up, putting me up last night and everything in between 💯

The build up for the past few days has been about the weather, which played games in my head, but the wind was ok, it was tough at times but when it was behind you it let you fly ✈️

I honestly cannot tell you how much this sub 4hr attempt means to me, 3 marathons didn’t go plan, 3 times I got the “how did you get on” followed by “oh” 3 times times iv been disappointed, frustrated, annoyed even tho I did 3 marathons I still felt the urge to get under the 4, iv no idea Why, just felt like a barrier for me.

Most don’t know, but I don’t have a cross country background, or underage race experience, my first race was my first marathon 2 years ago, but now I know Why people in athletics end up doing the marathon after years of practicing speed, balance, agility, coordination drills and races 😅

Dublin!!! You demanded effort today, if someone was walking, they walked for 4 seconds because ye were SCREAMING at people to move, the music, the people, the signs thank you so much ❤️

@altarfuel you’re top class, no stone unturned for the carb cartel, I hope I did ye proud today and it wouldn’t have been possible without the amazing speed dust 🚀

You guys, you reading this, I’m in your algorithm because you follow me and you were with me every step of the way, knowing there’s so many of you tracking me and texting me brings a slight bit of pressure but I enjoyed the pressure today, worked my ass off to put myself in this type of situation and today it paid off!! Thank you for all your messages ❤️

@lauraryan_ you are amazing! Train up with the 8 month old, waiting for me at the line ❤️ I never share images of my family on this account because I don’t think ye care 😂 maybe I’ll start I don’t know. But for now, it’s time to give Laura her weekends back and will I return for another marathon some other time? Who knows, time to recover and run faster for shorter in a few weeks and months 🚀 by @_dwruns

Daniel’s Lucky Number 🤝

This weekend @_dwruns makes his comeback to the Dublin Marathon and he’s not afraid of the wind (or big storm Karl)…

Godspeed Daniel, we’re with you all the way ⛽️ by @_dwruns

My last slow run video got 1.8m views 😂

Zone 2/slow/easy running is arguably one of the toughest runs you can do 👍

You know you’ve more pace in you. You’re hardly sweating. You’re barely out of breath. You’re asking yourself, “What’s the fucking point?”

But that’s exactly why you need to keep doing it!

We all want our ego and our Strava to look its best. We want to run faster every time we step outside. But that is just not sustainable.

It takes a LOT of long, boring runs to bring that heart rate down while your pace gradually comes up.

You have to be so fucking patient.

Even when someone is absolutely tearing you to shreds on the track beside you. You’re on different journeys, just ignore it 😤

Park the ego. Build the engine. Get faster over time. 🕰️

If you’re not even sure what Zone 2 means, head to my page. I’ve broken it down in a 15-second video that’ll make it much easier to understand.

While you’re there, drop me a follow. 💪

Never again… That’s what they say. But there’s something special about these streets that always brings you right back to the frontline. This year @_dwruns returns to the Dublin Marathon with his eyes firmly fixed on the 4hr barrier…
