Growing up, my dad was always singing. In the house, in the car, after he sneezed. And he’s always had incredible music taste. So when he decided to release his own music to the world, I was so proud! Other people finally got to hear his voice, his beautiful writing, and get a small glimpse into his heart. When I was little, he would make up fun songs for me and my brother. They were special because they were ours. He recently released a song he wrote for my brother called “Bright in There,” and it is beautiful. I guess I should have known that one day he would write a song for me too, but honestly, I never really thought about it. The first time he played me what he had been working on, I started sobbing. And truthfully, I’ve cried almost every time I’ve listened to it since. The song my dad wrote for me is called “Baby Girl.”What makes it so special—besides the fact that my dad wrote it—is that you can tell he listened to the music I love and intentionally wrote something that fits those songs. The lyrics are deeply personal and feel so uniquely catered to me. But I hope other people love this song as much as I do. It’s a song about the love a dad has for his daughter, and I am the luckiest girl in the world that it was written for me. Every time I think, “wow, my dad wrote me a song,” I’m overwhelmed by how loved I am. This is, without a doubt, the most thoughtful gift I’ve ever been given. Thank you, Dad. I love you forever. 🤍

dear blue house,

it’s been an absolute joy living with you four. y’all have been my people, my safe places, my challengers, and my comedic relief for the majority (if not all) of college. and what a gift that is! each of you are made unique and each of you bring something beautiful to the table. when i look back at college - ill think of yall. i’m not a words of aff girl, but i hope each of you know how incredibly special you are to me.
mark, i love that you are bold. in who you were made to be, and in what you believe in. you’re not afraid to fight for your people and within that, you also make sure they know how loved they are.
lyn, i love how you celebrate, whether it is a small win or a huge accomplishment- you love to make other people feel seen and loved, and you are so good at doing just that.
roo, i love how you are quick to listen but are also wise in your words. you are truly a safe place to land and praise God for that because we all know how much we need you.
el, i love sitting with you. you ask good questions and never fail to make us all laugh, but you also excel at meeting someone where they are, and you let them know that you want to be there with them.
i didn’t know how much i had been missing people like yall in my life until i got you. and being known as a blue house girl has been so special because it means that i was known for doing life with yall. i’m the luckiest gal in the world. i love you all dearly. markie, lyndsi, raegan, and ella. my roomies. my best friends. happy graduation, and happy next chapter!
