After four months of nearly pure isolation, catching up with friends to celebrate 𝘔𝘖𝘋𝘌𝘙𝘕𝘐𝘡𝘈𝘛𝘐𝘖𝘕 𝘖𝘍 𝘔𝘜𝘚𝘐𝘊 being the #1 New Release in both Music Business and Media & the Law feels pretty damn good. On this Friday the 13th of the year 2020, I offer 𝘔𝘖𝘋𝘌𝘙𝘕𝘐𝘡𝘈𝘛𝘐𝘖𝘕 𝘖𝘍 𝘔𝘜𝘚𝘐𝘊 as a glimpse of hope. ∆While there is a digital version, I meticulously crafted the print to be a visual experience best enjoyed the old fashioned way.∆I’ve never really imagined that I would become an author, but sometimes, the universe certainly works in mysterious ways. “Phish is my happy place where I reunite amongst friends across the U.S. We get funky, And also get to witness the most dialed-in musicianship that’s ever (ever) existed, and do some hood rat shit with our pham — and that pretty much sums it up. ⭕️I had heard rumblings about this band, and people seeing them 300+ times, and this, of course, made no sense to me at the time. Little did I know that this community would be comprised of the most rad individuals, and overall hold eternal joy and never-ending splendor.My first show in ‘18 opened with a Tweezer Reprise (only the fourth time ever in their 2,000+ shows), and there has been no turning back since. I’ve traveled coast to coast following this band, and I recently celebrated my 50th show this Sphere run.I lost my mom this year, and this community has really stepped up and proven to be my phamily. This music is extremely healing to me. While I’m at a show I feel nothing but the present — more so than anywhere else.The style that is exuded by all on tour is one absolutely incomparable to any scene I’ve witnessed. Phish is our runway, and the more sparkly, the better.While we’re all there for the music itself, it’s the surrounding artistic community that separates us from all others. Phish has served as a great inspiration for my music and multimedia venture, Reverie Collective, soon to be released. I genuinely believe if the world all collectively listened to Scents and Subtle Sounds (w/ Intro), we would have a much greater understanding and enjoyment of life in general. My momma, Kimberley, was so much more than a mother—she was my best friend, my greatest supporter, and the heart of our family. She gave endessly—her energy, her time, and her heart. She had a warmth that drew all people in and a kindness that was apparent to all. Her love was unwavering and unconditional, and her presence brought comfort like nothing else out there. She was the most beautiful person I have ever met, and I’m honored to be her son. My dad and her have been together for over fourty years—a devotion and loyalty not seen too much today. She always told me that her greatest accomplishment was raising me and my sister, Nicole. She had the rare ability to make everyone feel like they mattered, and she gave so much of herself to the people she loved. She was ALWAYS the life of the party. Losing her is like losing the absolute best part of myself, but I will carry her with me in everything I do. I’m so proud of how much strength she showed during her battle with her health. Life just ain’t fair sometimes, and she didn’t deserve this. Her love, her strength, and her spirit will always be a part of me. I will miss her so much by @_emaxwell_
