Here are 5 things I do to calm my performance day jitters:
Get a good night’s rest — nothing’s worse than walking into a show with a tired mind and body.
Give yourself time to move slow — rushing stresses your nervous system. You want to be cool as a cucumber walking into the venue. Remember: time is on your side.
Sip my favorite herbal tea with honey — it keeps my throat warm and coated.
Listen to the music and hum along — gentle reviews leading up to call time help keep my voice warm. Humming or light lip trills are an easy way to run sections without putting premature stress on your vocal cords.
Breathe through the nerves — breathe, baby. You’ve got this!

🎭 10 Things I LOVE About Teaching Performing Arts 🎶
1️⃣ Introducing my students to music classics they’ve never heard, but the industry will never forget.
2️⃣ Using music as empowerment - every song is an affirmation or call to action.
3️⃣ Being unapologetically silly while we learn.
4️⃣ Laughing every single class.
5️⃣ Exploring new languages, cultures, decades, and genres.
6️⃣ Watching fears fade and confidence grow.

8️⃣ Teaching performance skills that work anywhere in life.
