Ranking the Red Rising series from my least favorite to favorite, some of my fav quotes (no spoilers), and a review under each slide ❤️‍🩹🖤 loved every single book so this was hard! _______ #redrising #books #book #bookreview #bookstagram # 6 4.25 ⭐️ I struggled a lot with this book. It took me forever to get through, I felt like the jump to not only multiple povs but povs of brand new characters that didn’t relate to the story at first was tough, and the writing style in general also felt new. Now, I know the importance of the povs and everything that happened in this book so it’s okay, just was not my favorite! Still so many huge moments in this book and really set up the next 2 books perfectly. I have a feeling this book will hit harder during a reread # 5 4.5 ⭐️ The book that started it all. I honestly LOVED this book. I didn’t find it slow like some people say, I was throughly entertained and intrigued. A fun time. It just doesn’t compare the rest of the series. I’m also a huge hunger games girl so that probably explains it. It was giving hunger games in space, but 10x more violent # 4 5 ⭐️ It pains me to even put this book low in the ranking, this book and the next are honestly almost tied. Golden son was non stop entertainment, SO much happened in this book, it was non stop but in the best way. The gala scene was absolutely legendary and one of the best parts of the entire series, and this also has one of the craziest endings I’ve ever read. My jaw was ON the floor. I’ve never audibly gasped at an ending like I did with this one # 3 5 ⭐️ This was one of the most painful books I’ve ever read. I felt defeated and emotionally drained by the end of this but …. still 5 stars?!?! Lol, the events of this book really live up to the name. As dark as this book was, it was also so beautifully written. I felt so deeply connected to these characters and this story. I’ve truly never felt this way from a book ever, whether that’s a good thing or bad thing I’m not sure! But I felt the need to put this above golden son due to the way it made me feel so deeply. Blood Over Bright Haven by M.L. Wang - a masterpiece ❤️ A book that I think everyone needs to read. A devastating and heartbreakingly beautiful story. A book full of harsh and deep themes that despite being a fantasy, relate so much to our society. Full review: There’s so much to unpack in this book. What a wild ride. This was only 400 pages, yet accomplished so much, M.L. Wang is a brilliant author. This magic system was soo fascinating and unique, I absolutely loved the mix of academia and magic. If I had to describe this book with one word, it would be frustrating. A frustratingly corrupt society, frustrating men and patriarchy, and a frustrating FMC. A society set up for women and anyone considered “lower class” to fail. I could talk about how terrible the men and misogyny was in this book all day (🤢🫠), but I want to focus more on our female main character. Sciona is a complex character that takes patience and challenges you. She’s a product of her environment, raised on the corrupt beliefs and predjuces of the world she’s always known. Throughout this book, you witness her begin to challenge these beliefs and unlearn the behaviors and what was taught to her, I loved watching her come to her own conclusions about her people, the dark side of academia and the Kwen. She is a confusing main character because you’re rooting for her as a woman in this harsh world, while also recognizing that she has a lot of work to do as a person herself. By the end of the book, I really felt so proud of her and inspired. She truly believed in herself and her work until the very end which I loved. Without spoiling too much, this story is absolutely tragic. The conclusion of this book comes with so many emotions and mixed feelings, I honestly was speechless by the end. Thomil and Sciona have such a heartbreaking story, I will be thinking about them and this book forever 😭😭❤️‍🩹 ________ #books #bookrecs #bookreview #bloodoverbrighthaven by @_emsreads_

September !!! Always one of my favorite months of the year 🤎♍️ Read 2 of my new favorite books of all time (separate reviews to come) I had such a fun month but it has been very busy so I haven’t been the best with posting 🥲 but lots to post about coming up because now it’s OCTOBER 🥹🥳👻🧡 I am finally diving back into the Secret History. I have attempted to read this book multiple times but it was just always the wrong time, so I’m excited to finally give this book the attention it deserves lol Quick reviews: CC1- 6 stars. Insane book start to finish Blood over Bright Haven- another 6 stars. One of my new favorite books of all time (RTC) Starling House- really enjoyed this, a good fall read with some gothic vibes, yearning and beautiful writing. Loved opal and Arthur sm 🥹 Home Before Dark- definitely creepy. Another good fall read. But lots of parts that dragged with no reasoning, and I didn’t love how it ended even if it did make sense (also predicted the plot twist hmm) Crown me dead- I liked this but fear I didn’t love it as much as everyone else. Really hated the characters lol but the ending was good and intrigued me enough to read the next book 28 Summers- a book I never would have chosen to read myself as it was for my book club, I really didn’t like the concept or the characters but I have to say I couldn’t put this down I found myself invested in the story even though it annoyed me :-) _________ #books #bookstagram #bookrecs #fall #september by @_emsreads_
