The Devil's Ball is available everywhere now. There's so much I could say about this record, and what making it meant to me. But go follow my blog or whatever. For now, let me just tell you that it features the immense talents of: Andy Starkey (@sisterinrage ) - Banjo Ishi Wooton - Fiddle Kate Wakefield (@katewakefieldmusic ) - Cello, Vocals Kayti McM (@trashique_treschic ) - Vocals Long Jumper (@longjumperbeats ) - Drums Ross Clark (@l_sing_thy_body_electric ) - Double Bass I was honored to record it at @sneakattackrecordingco , right here in Lexington KY, with my old friend & mentor, @j_groves_inc , who also mixed and mastered it. Original art by Matt Minter (@worsethanjail ) I honestly can't believe it's finally here. We're gonna celebrate by bringing it to life with a full-band set. Tonight at @alsbarlex , with the homies @therealbandshee & @stormtokerofficial . We play first. Don't be late. You can find show details, the Record, the Blog (i wasn't kidding), and more in my stories or the ol' link in bio. by @_ericmcm_

Some Facts: if 2% of my social media followers supported me on Patreon, at the lowest tier, it would solve almost all my short-term problems. 4% would change my life. It's funny. After my last post asking for support, someone reached out to my mother to make sure I was OK. I'm fine, of course, but it did make me realize that a lot of you out there may not know what this is or how it works. This is My Job. It is a Wonderful Job, and I wouldn't want any other. But it is also a very very Hard Job. I typically put in 50-60 hour weeks, when I'm not on the road. I do my own vehicle maintenance, repair my own instruments, design my own flyers/graphics, manage my finances, book shows, edit video, write copy, book shows, promote shows, record, edit, mix, master, manage an email list & socials, book shows, and so many other things. All this, ideally, while continuing to write songs and practice my instruments. But there's no paycheck. No infrastructure. I'm completely independent. Which means I have the privilege of working directly for everyone who ever has or ever will give a damn about my music. And Patreon is a key part of the structure that makes that possible. Patreon is a platform, owned and operated by artists, where supporters can pledge small (or not) monthly contributions to their favorite creators to help keep them in business. In exchange, those supporters get access to exclusive content from the artists they support. So no, I'm not in any peril. I'm not asking for donations. I'm asking for those who have the means, and appreciate my work, to consider supporting that work so it can continue. Because, while I may be in no immediate danger of losing my home or going hungry, the truth of it is that my situation is unstable, and not remotely sustainable in the long-term as things currently stand. And I would love to still be making music in the lon-term. It's all I know. When you sign up, you immediately get access to the now year-deep archive of exclusive content, plus several new goodies every single month. And almost all of it is available at the lowest tier, for the cost of a coffee per month! Link in comments. 🤘🪗🤘 📷 @brandonious_photography by @_ericmcm_

Yesterday was my first day off since August. Not that I didn't have a pile of work to do, but brain said no. So we're back at it today, and boy-howdy do I have a lot to tell y'all about! Like how The Devil's Ball is now, by shockingly popular demand, available on Compact Disc! Get yours at a show, order one up from my Bandcamp store! And how I sat down last week for a conversation with @katzulhu.productions on the (Don't) Quit Your Day Job podcast, all about the new record, how and why it came to be, and the realities of being a full-time independant musician in 2026. But also how, even though I'm at home for a couple days, I'm still on tour for another four weeks!!! And this next leg is a doozy! 10/29 Pittsburg PA - at @poetrypgh w/@thestolenstitches & Shantuck 10/31 Queens NY - HALLOWTIDE at @barfreda801 w/@taillightrebel & a ton of killer acts 11/04 Tulsa OK - at Shady Shack (DM for address) 11/05 Bartlesville OK - at Grey Dog Listening Room 11/06 Wichita KS - at @kirbys_1972 w/@joeyhenrysdirtysunshineclub @laceycruse & Bob Chillin 11/07 Kansas City MO - at @farewellkcmo w/@dimensionbilledwards , Rydito Montalvo, Bailey Walton at @dreamland.theater in Ypsilanti MI The good ol @rdinerofficial in Monroe MI @thedefiancecampaign somehow capturing the exact sounds in my brain any time i drive by a cyber truck @weewahypsi @premiumratmusic @weewahypsi @thegirlsongs at @blindbobs by @_ericmcm_

*swipe for release* New full-band cover just dropped on my Patreon. If you don't already know, Patreon is a major part of the infrastructure that makes it possible to do what I do as an independent artist. I wouldn't be where I am, and The Devil's Ball wouldn't exist, without the support of my patrons there. Boy howdy, I sure could use your support too. Follow the link in my bio to join me ove there, where Patrons get access to a huge archive of exclusive content, monthly projects, early access to new releases, and more. If you like what I do, and want me to be able to continue doing it, there's no better way to help make it possible. This month's cover is 'Christiana' by Reverend Glasseye, featuring Kayti McM (@trashique_treschic ) by @_ericmcm_
Ya boi is tired. But grateful. Thanks to everyone who's been streaming the new EP, or purchased a copy for your very own. If you haven't had the chance yet, you can go check it out on your platform of choice. Vinyl, shirts, and more available on Bandcamp. You'll find the links for all that in my Bio and Highlights. This weekend's shows were so damn good for my soul. Getting to play the record live, alongside a few of the brilliant folks who helped me record it (@l_sing_thy_body_electric @katewakefieldmusic @longjumperbeats ) was a literal dream come true. And, honestly, a bit of a creative full-circle moment for me. I actually tried to do something pretty similar once, at Al's. I was 23, and it was a disaster. I ended that night crying in the alley. A lot can change in 16 years. Also pretty cool that I got to spend these first two EP Release Shows with SO many of my favorite bands, who I'm damn glad to call friends. @stormtokerofficial @therealbandshee @mollysmidnightvillains @sadblacklab & @iris.marlowe all freaking rule. Tour kicks off this week, with some OH & MI bangers. Come be strange with me. 10.22 Newport KY at @sghrevival 10.23 Dayton OH at @blindbobs w/ @_mayliner 10.24 Ypsilanti MI at @dreamland.theater w/@haunted.spurs & @thedefiancecampaign 10.25 Ogden MI at The Academy w/@agatha_haag_band & @uncle_mounty 📷 @rickbertelson by @_ericmcm_
I'm damn lucky to have some scary-talented friends. I'm even luckier to have three of the finest, not just Artists, but People, that I've ever known joining me on stage tomorrow night at @alsbarlex to play The Devil's Ball in it's entierty! WE PLAY FIRST. DON'T BE LATE. After us, stick around and headbang with me to @therealbandshee & @stormtokerofficial It's gonna be a helluva night. Oh. And the record drops at midnight tonight. Let's dance. @katewakefieldmusic - Cello, Vocals @longjumperbeats - Percussion @l_sing_thy_body_electric - Upright Bass by @_ericmcm_
CNS' Fall Tour was a fucking ride. A non-stop month of the best and the worst of everything that it means to be a DIY touring musician. But that's why I love it. And I still wouldn't want to do anything else in this life. I'm sure i'll elaborate more loquaciously in the near futre. There's surely a torrent of blogging soon to come. But, in the meantime, i gotta get my shit together for my debut solo record release this friday, with a full-band (@longjumperbeats @l_sing_thy_body_electric @katewakefieldmusic ) release show at @alsbarlex in Lexington KY with the homies @therealbandshee & @stormtokerofficial 🤘🤘🤘 Fort Collins CO w/ @straykitten88 Always good to see the ICT homies @petr_chubak Two pals People don't talk enough about wrist health. ft. @jamesrossimusic at @thecharleston333 Bremerton WA Was wild spending a week watching @clydemcgeemusic & @jamesrossimusic burn down every venue every night. at @twilightcafeandbar Portland OR Portland Sunset Discovered in the wild. That's a wrap on our 2026 Mid-West-Coast tour! Thanks to all the incredible folks who shared stages with us, put us up, put up with us, fed us, ran sound, door, bar, promo, and all the other indispensable jobs it takes to make a tour like this happen. Most especially, thanks to all of you who came out to a show. We couldn't do it without you. That may be the end of touring for 2026, but we've got a release around the corner, and our 20-year anniversary coming up in 2027! We'll see y'all down the road. by @_ericmcm_
