Chapter 37. 🎂✨

Today I celebrate more than a birthday. I celebrate growth, resilience, soft healing, deep love, and the woman I’ve fought to become. This year isn’t about perfection, it’s about alignment. It’s about choosing peace without guilt, love without fear, and joy without hesitation.

I’ve learned that strength can be gentle. That boundaries can be loving. That my heart can hold both hope and healing at the same time. I’m stepping into 37 with clarity, confidence, and a quiet knowing that everything meant for me is already finding its way.

This chapter is for:
• Protecting my energy
• Loving deeper and more intentionally
• Walking in purpose, not pressure
• Celebrating the small wins and the big blessings
• Becoming softer… but never smaller

I don’t have everything figured out, but I have faith, courage, and a heart that refuses to give up. And that’s more than enough.

I am a stanza made flesh. Every shimmer of fabric echoing the heartbeat of a culture that writes its own legends. I move like a living verse, each gesture braided with meaning, my crown of jewels resting softly as a reminder that beauty is both rebellion and ritual. #blackdandyism 💃🏽

The roses I hold aren’t just petals; they are promises… of resilience, of radiance, of the unbreakable grace that blooms when we gather to honor Black Excellence. The gala glowed with that heartbeat, a living gallery of dreams personified draped in elegance as armor, and pride as a veil. 🌹

I walk with the cadence of a drumbeat - steady, unafraid, fully crowned in heritage and hope, knowing that royalty is never given. It’s earned in the glow of our shared stories, and in the power we rise with, again and again. 👑📖

In Loving Memory of Tocho Joshua 🩵💙🕯️
Sunrise 🌄 2/9/2017
Sunset 🌅 9/2/2026 🐾💔

Today, with a completely shattered heart, I lay my sweet baby, Tocho Joshua, to rest. (Tocho means “mountain lion” in the Cherokee Indian language.)

For almost ten beautiful years, Tocho filled my life with the gentlest and purest kind of love. He was truly a lover; he loved belly rubs, wet food, snuggling under the covers, and playing with his brother, Tigger James. Fun Fact: he was so intelligent, he taught himself how to open latch handle doors! ☺️🥲 There was nothing complicated about what made Tocho happy. He simply needed to be loved and to have his loved ones near him.

Tocho 🐈‍⬛ and Tigger 🐈 shared such a special bond. They loved playing together, especially boxing, running up and down the house at midnight, and sharing their little lives side by side. Tigger preceded him in death last year, and although losing them both has broken my heart beyond words, I find comfort in imagining my sweet boys reunited; whole, peaceful, and playing together again.

Tocho never asked for much. He was a simple, gentle soul who only wanted love, comfort, and companionship. I hope, with everything in me, that he always knew how deeply he was loved by me. I hope he felt it with every belly rub, every time I lifted the covers so he could crawl underneath, every bowl of wet food, and every quiet moment we shared.

Almost ten years together could never have been enough. My home will feel quieter without him. The covers will feel emptier. My heart will forever notice the space where my sweet baby should be.

Tocho Joshua, thank you for choosing me to be your mommy. Loving you, caring for you, and calling you mine was one of the greatest privileges of my life.

Rest peacefully, my sweet baby. Go find your brother Tigger and play together again. This is not goodbye forever.

Petals bigger than my problems, vibes louder than the speakers, and me? Floating somewhere between “soft life” and “don’t play with her.” 🌸🧚🏽‍♀️
Sunnation wasn’t just a party… it was a whole technicolor dream, and I showed up dressed like I belonged in the garden. Denim, drama, and just enough attitude to match the bassline.💃🏽💖

I learned that strength isn’t toughness.
Keep going, even though you’re scared.
Restart as many times as necessary.

It is honoring who I was to sustain who I am becoming.

Today I celebrate life with greater consciousness less rush, more true.

May this new year come with health in the body, clarity of mind
and peace in the heart.

Two Hearts, One Bond. Distance may stretch, but connection doesn’t fade. Dallas held us while we remembered what sisterhood feels like. She’s West Coast, I’m East Coast, but somehow we ended up in Texas - probably for the tacos and the therapy session disguised as a girls trip 💅🏽💕 Recharged, realigned, and laughing at the same inside jokes like no time passed.
