The tube slide components are unconventionally configured into acoustic > sky gazer > loungers, and when gathered into a trio, make series of collected / solitary experiences through this unique “bundle” geometry.

I listen to echoey music while lounging ~ currently “Perché non sognar” as I work on my Italian.

Why not dream ?!

A “Field Chapel” is a small worship space often set in a secluded landscape.

>> SWIPE 4 MORE >>

📸 @thetonyliproject

“Feel’d Chapel” is a work first developed with @haynesriley for group show entitled “Sigh-Fi” ~ the secluded field in that case being a gallery of works dealing with types of estrangement; a form of blasé science fiction that informed the show ~ aka “Sigh Fi”

“Feel’d Chapel” w/ its piano hinges, was designed to fold up like a piece of exercise furniture, and so the title of the work connected blasé “sigh-fi” with the weird world of self improvement, home shopping networks, and infomercials.

“…now w/ the Frari”
For this show, Feel’d Chapel is half mapped w/ a “heavy 13th century basilica” ( Basilica di Santa Maria Gloriosa dei Frari ) re-presented here in a “strange field” disconnected from liturgy and as a type of real building-to-faux finish that correlates with works in the show.

The framing is comprised of dimensional S4S “smooth four sides” cedar lumber, spaced to correspond with the width of our @pfeiferjones production plotter.

There is x1 panel shape x4 total panels ~ mirrored in x2 axes and seamed-up as sub-panels to fit the gallery load-in width.

s/o partner @bpfarc
s/o preparator @kreepyskreatives

The form spatially compresses, releases, frames a view, directs the eye (up) ~ resulting in a sort of experiential circus ride that i’ve used in loads of other projects.

…this work explores “faux finish” as a type of science fiction ~ where the wavy wood plank shown represents a scale or species no longer available on earth

…this idea is inspired by a scene from Chris Marker’s film La Jetée where a time traveler describes where they are from with the growth rings of a tree “…I come from here” [ points beyond the limit to a future ]

…this work also mimics a Martha Stewart craft technique ~ scaled up in this case with a custom/ sup’d up version of her “home grainer” tool.

! it has been a fast n fun few weeks working at @macdowell1907 as an Architecture Fellow ~ where I framed my time around the production of early development studies for a special project w/ @okcontemporary set to debut next year. I love these lil architectures which are made from watercolor paintings of the New Hampshire sky, folded and collaged with other “stuff”.

I am grateful to connect with so many big ideas and sweet humans while here and depart Macdowell with some energy and inertia that I intend to carry forward into everything that is next.

A powerful new exhibition is coming to Oklahoma Contemporary in 2027.

"I Know Someone Wonderful" brings together artist Aaron Jones and community activist Kristi Williams in an immersive exhibition curated by Lindsay Aveilhé.

Inspired by Tulsa's historic Vernon African Methodist Episcopal Church in the Greenwood District, the exhibition features suspended, bell-like domes that blend storytelling, faux-finishing, experimental printmaking, and archival audio from the church. Together, these intimate architectural forms create a space for reflection and invite visitors to engage more deeply with Vernon's enduring history and legacy.

Founded in 1905, Vernon AME Church is the only surviving Black-owned structure that remains intact from the era of Historic Black Wall Street. Known as the "Grandmother of Greenwood," it continues to serve as a place of resilience, refuge, and community more than a century after its founding.

"I Know Someone Wonderful" will be on view June 17–November 1, 2027, in the Mary LeFlore Clements Oklahoma Gallery. Admission is always free. Learn more at okcontemp.org/wonderful.

Big MOdels is a series of five large study models (or little architectures) which mash-up representation, scale, surface, and beyond.

These works advance playful and exploratory nature of their smaller counterparts into larger-than-typical scales ~ developing special space as a result.

I am very excited to announce my solo exhibition w @108contemporary next Summer ~ entitled “Big Models”

This exhibition will present a series of lil architectures/ big models which explore mashups of printmaking, infrastructures, geometries ~ at progressively larger scales.

This work has been developed over the last ~year or so through a series of workshops at UKy, OK Contemporary, and RISD ~ and will be furthered by some time w/ @talkingdolls and a proper R+D at PfJ/A @pfeiferjones as the ideas coincide with some upcoming client work.

Last best bit ~ this show will partner with marvelous n magical Hannah Dewhirst ( @sub_._studio ) for some writing and vision and maybe a zine.

…until then it’s 10 toes down hmu in the real world

It has been a fast and fun few days making this work in Santa Fe ~ We are all very grateful for the wonderful @currentsnewmedia colleagues, interns, and SF community for their interest and support.

“Quadraphonic Spring” is an intimate performance venue which graphically maps and mutates a sacred hot spring onto the interior surfaces of a suspended paper dome.

The sacred hot spring and its history, currently known as “Spence Hot Spring within the Valles Caldera” juxtaposes against the nearby Los Alamos National Laboratory and its relationship to land, technology, and geothermal heat.

The dome environment incorporates looping spatial audio by Michael Demps. Entitled “SPRING”, the score draws linkages with the interior graphics through site recordings, ancestral rhythms, and quadraphonic composition.

The mash-up of this audio score within a re-presented sacred environment is meant to stoke a deeper and more critical engagement of both elements - framing conversations about humanity, technology, and ecology over time.

POST SCRIPT
This #WIP has been in development for a few months and was installed over the course of 6/10-13 in its first iteration. During creative development we talked at length about the strange nature of a geothermal hot spring located (very) near the Los Alamos National Laboratory. Little did we know that this initial debut (6/13) would coincide with the Israeli bombing of Iran ~ and the subsequent thoughts of nuclear war/ global annihilation.

Over spring break, @_fakejones and @bpfarc brought us along as they spent the week bringing their latest magic trick, the “Organ Drone Dome” from Tulsa to the Venice Architecture Biennale. However, traveling internationally with your “project in a bag” could hardly go without a few hang-ups.

“We arrived in Italy Saturday morning around 10:30 a.m., but our “project” bag got delayed. So we spent most of the day with Air France baggage support trying to figure out what’s going on… We also didn’t have some of our personal items, but were able to get them on Sunday to begin setting up as scheduled on Monday. We then took a water taxi from the airport to Venice, which is a really beautiful wooden, kind of open air boat – power boat – not a gondola, but like a water taxi boat that brought us near our hotel.”

Most of that Sunday was spent just settling in and walking, touring, and eating food. We went and viewed significant architecture, like the “Chiesa di San Nicola da Tolentino” and began installing our project in the Palazzo Mora on Monday. We would typically work from 10am to 4:30pm and then spend the rest of the day sightseeing, shopping, and eating. We finished on Tuesday, the project installed really smoothly and looked beautiful.”

This quick trip overseas during spring break allowed time for them to come back and continue projects locally, as well as spread the word about the piece of Tulsa that will be on view—to make sure it is on the summer vacation itinerary for those who are planning to attend the Biennale in Venice, or may want to now add that to their list of must-see exhibitions.

Imagine being able to experience one of Tulsa’s most significant examples of Art Deco architecture half a world away, in the Palazzo Mora in Venice, Italy… through an interactive suspended paper dome? Tulsa-based architecture studio @pfeiferjones is doing exactly that; through an opportunity of creative cultural exchange, it is displaying its “project in a bag” at this year’s Venice Architecture Biennale.

Initially meeting back in college while studying architecture at Oklahoma State University, both moved outside the state to follow their career paths but found their way back to Tulsa about three years ago.

@_fakejones background was in this cross between the music world and the architectural design world. By building on established working relationships with a group that had exhibited previously at the Venice Biennale, Pfeifer Jones received an invitation to be a part of the exhibition this year— it was the perfect opportunity to showcase a local expression of their performance art installations on an international level.
