my north star in writing music for FatPH is to fuse North American vernacular music (think folk & popular music) w/ extreme metal

wtf does that even mean? here's some examples:

1. the chorus of "Microwave Massacre" uses tight, 3-part harmony like you'd hear on bluegrass tunes

(you're listening to this RN!)

2. "The Southampton Examiner I: Swamp People" is just a folk song I wrote played w/ distorted guitars

(the guitar solo rips and incorporates lots of country licks)

3. "The Battle of Jerusalem" features a choir at it's climatic end like you might hear at a small Protestant church

(there's also a slide guitar solo. that track really goes places!)

4. "Go in the Wilderness III" is my arrangement of the spiritual by the same name

(def the prettiest track on the whole record)

5. in fact, I conceived of the whole album "Southampton Insurrection" as musically growing from the seed that is "Go in the Wilderness"
