5 Lessons From This Shoot ✨

1. Lighting creates the mood.
The red and warm backlighting gave the image depth instead of just illuminating the subject.

2. Props should interact with the subject.
The string lights weren’t just decoration—they became part of the pose, composition, and story.

3. Your backdrop matters more than people think.
The black fabric kept distractions out and let the skin tones, dress, and lights stand out.

4. Pose for the light, not just the camera.
Small changes in body position completely change where highlights and shadows fall.

5. Build the shot in-camera first.
Editing can enhance color and contrast, but getting the lighting, pose, wardrobe, and composition right on set makes the final image much stronger.

Every shoot teaches you something. The goal isn’t just to create a photo—it’s to understand why the photo works. 📸

One island and not one frame that looks like it belongs to the same planet as the last. That’s the trick of the place…you drive an hour and the world has swapped itself out. Black sand becomes green cliff becomes steam rising out of bare rock becomes water falling from somewhere you can’t see the top of.

I kept thinking I’d found the best part. I was wrong every single time.

For nine days, Iceland unfolded one chapter at a time. Rivers that carried the sky, waterfalls that sounded like the earth breathing, and mountain peaks that reminded me how small we are in the best possible way.
There were moments when silence said more than words ever could. Moments where the only thing left to do was stand still and let the landscape tell its story.
I came here to create, but somewhere between the winding roads and endless horizons, Iceland created something in me instead.
This world is impossibly beautiful.
And somehow, I get to call this my life.
