@_fredcleveland was the first friend I made when I attended a summer program at @dukeellingtondc which also ended up being the high school we both graduated from.

We bonded over our love for gospel music. We both loved kim Burrell’s “everlasting life” album! The first question he asked me was “can you do runs?” 🤣 …we’ve been friends ever since.

I came home for a thnxgvg break during my college years and I met up with Fred and played him some music I had been writing and recording and he insisted I come sing at his grandmothers church. I told him I’d only do it if he would sing with me! That is how @bc1way began… it all started with Fred. Now we just won our 2nd @thestellars award together. Look at God…

I hold so many memories dear to my heart when it comes to him. We used to share a car. I used to sleep on his couch. I was there the day he met his wife. I stood with him when he got married. I’m the godfather to his first child but….

The thing I cherish the most is that He’s always had my back. Believe it or not.. I’ve been more afraid to do a lot of the things I’ve done in my career but it was always Fred pushing me and encouraging me to do it and having him there beside me gave me confidence.

We met when we were 15 and today he turns 40! Wow. What a blessing to share 25 years of brotherhood. With my whole heart I celebrate and honor the incredible man of God He is. I pray God overwhelms you with great favor in this decade!
