While sitting at the Car Wash today, i ran into another friend I grew up with from the 70s, in Roosevelt Long Island, when the Ohio Player was the Rage!
His name is Russell Davenport. While everyone remembered Russ as a Karate expert, he was also an original member of the group called Spectrum, who DJ at Roosevelt park every Sunday in the late 70s and later became known as Public Enemy.
But here is something else you don’t know, while Roosevelt is known for Dr J, Eddie and Charles Murphy, Public Enemy, Howard Stern, music group Guy, etc…Russell Davenport is the 1st ArchBishop of Roosevelt!
When I tell you growing up in Roosevelt was pure FIRE, you just don’t understand. But you know what, you better ask Somebody! by @_garycharles

Former NBA player (Indiana Pacers) and UConn great AJ Price at @softsipscoffee .
Before becoming a Pro, AJ led Amityville HS to 3 straight Long Island championships and 2 state championships.
While some people disagreed with me, I convinced Sonny Vaccaro that he deserved to be on the Roundball all American team alongside players such as Dwight Howard, JR Smith, Joakim Noah, etc,
AJ ended with 17 assists in the game and was named Co-MVP along with future Golden State great Shaun Livingston.
So when I invited him to @softsipscoffee he jumped at the opportunity. After telling me how much he loved the place and that he would tell his wife about it(They also live in Baldwin), guess who was walking in? His wife! 😆
Her friend had already been bringing her coffee from here and she liked it so much she decided to come on her own!
AJ and I could do nothing but Hug and laugh..

I owe my grandson, Isaiah, an apology. I had promised him I would put this video out in early July and I forgot!
But when it especially comes to the grandkids you have to keep your word. So everyone, please give my grandson a nice clap 👏🏾 by @_garycharles

In Life we meet a lot of people. But there are some people who are on a different scale.
Meet Danny Green, a 3 time NBA Champion, NCAA National Champion at North Carolina, McDonald All-American. Danny is from N Babylon and went to St Mary’s High School.
But what separates Danny from most is that he has always been a humble and Genuine young man.
From the moment his best friend, @akspann brought him to the NY Panthers workout he hasn’t changed.
When Kev told him his little Sis @domonique.shantel opened up @softsipscoffee , Kev and @greenranger14 knew he was going to come through. Shout to Kev for putting it together.
There’s a reason why I always considered Danny one of the top 5 greatest person I ever coached.

You never know who might pop up at @softsipscoffee to support co-owner @domonique.shantel . This time it was @celeste620. Former WNBA player, McDonald’s All-American, USA Gold Medalist in Fiba U16 Championship, Big 10 Defensive Player of the Year, Long Island Legend.
She and my daughter went to Long Island Lutheran (LUHI) together. No my daughter did not play. She was captain of the Dance Team. 😆
Celeste is still doing the Damm thing as an assistant basketball coach for Grand Canyon University in Arizona.
She came home for a visit and decided to come and work the register to show support. True friend indeed. It takes a village and people are truly showing us.
Everyone, Show your Love to Celeste Taylor!

It was so nice to chill , relax, listen to soothing music at my daughter’s coffee shop, @softsipscoffee , with former St John’s legend, and NBA pro Zendon (Zee) Hamilton. I’ve known this young man since he was 14. He’s the reason the Long Island/NY Panthers received the first shoe contract given to a Grassroots team.
I’ve watched him grow from a soft spoken kid, to a confident man, who now is a TV analyst for Atlantic 10 basketball , and Hofstra Men Basketball. I’m so proud of him. Because of him and his dad it opened up a whole new world for a lot of young men, and true to form, he felt it was important to come and support @domonique.shantel , who he’s known since she was a baby.
Come on over to this beautiful spot in Baldwin. You never know who you might run into. by @_garycharles
