I hear a lot about the market’s necessities. What is favorable in tough times. What wines we should be focusing on etc. The reality for me is this is still a passion project. Has been from the jump and still is 10 years later.

My thoughts: there has never been more amazing natural wine available. There are truly hundreds (maybe thousands?) of great producers making true zero additive wine across the world. As the market scrutinizes, the vision and tools sharpen regardless of whether that’s intended.

Well, this is infinitely true for our producers in Australia. As the domestic Aussie market requests (demands) so2 and safety, our friends have honed in. I’m logically guessing and putting myself out there that this is the greatest collection of 00 Aussie wine ever assembled. I challenge you to taste them and make room for them if you enjoy them. We are here to share with anyone who wants to dive in :) I dare ya.

In wonderful news, absolute gentleman Simon Amber of @_geminiwine_ will join us for Force of Nature 2024.

Following a number of years working with Mon and Tim at @manonfarm, Simmo began his label a few years ago with a focus, from the outset, on his wines having relatively long elevage in barrel and also lengthy time in bottle prior to release.

The wines are distinctive in their acidic profiles and are truly mineral...the primary fruit giving way to soil expression and rockiness.

Simmo is yet another truly exciting producer of strictly organic, totally additive free wine to emerge from South Australia in the last 5 or years and we're thrilled to have him join us in a couple of weeks! taken in 75 Reid St by @_geminiwine_

Castor & Pollux

The Twin Stars of Gemini

Two new wines to usher in the colder months, shorter days means longer nights, of fires and dinners, of conversation, of scheming towards the Spring.

Castor 2021
Cabernet Sauvignon & Merlot grown on the green pastures of the Southern Fleurieu Peninsula. A combination of ferments, carbonic maceration for the deep bottom end, and direct pressed rosato for the sparkle on top. Equal parts dark and light.

Pollux 2021
Chardonnay grown close to the Southern Ocean down on the Fleurieu. Fermented with long exposure to oxygen, she breathes deep and full offering up a soft buttery texture. As crisp and mineral as the nearby ocean breeze.

The 2021 Lineup.

Bottling is done(… almost) for the current season. 7 different wines this year. Way more than I’ve ever made in the past.

It was a daunting prospect to get it all done and I think I’ve managed to scrape through. Everything tasting great as it went to bottle, no dramas, gotta be happy with that!

These wines are all variations of CabSav, Merlot, Pinot Gris & Chardonnay. They’ll now be laid down to rest until they’re ready to start being released, sometime later this year.

For now it’s time to look forward to the next harvest of 2022. I hope it can be another good one x by @_geminiwine_
