2025 took me far beyond what I could’ve planned.

Through the @skyrunning, I had the privilege of travelling across the world and documenting some of the most technical, spectacular mountain races out there, the kind of terrain that demands everything, from athletes and from storytellers.

Beyond the circuit, I also had the chance to work with incredible people, brands, and races at the very highest level, different formats, different countries, same obsession: mountains, movement, and light.

This recap is a selection of my favourite trail photos from 2025.
But what I value most isn’t the photographs, it’s what comes back to me when I see them.
Every frame holds a story. Every story holds a moment I won’t forget.

One thing travelling has taught me is that the best portraits rarely start with a camera.

These were taken at 4.750 metres in Yading, China, after spending some time with a group of local Tibetans searching for yartsa gunbu. I always try to learn something before asking for a portrait. Understanding what people do and why they do it makes the photograph feel much more honest.

Those small conversations are often what I remember most long after the trip is over.

For as long as I can remember, I’ve been the one behind the camera.

Today, for the first time, my photos are printed on paper, and @saltytrailrunning didn’t just publish them, they gave me the cover and a whole story of their own. “Inside the Frame”, they called it. For once, I’m the one inside it.

I still remember being a kid running in the mountains long before I ever owned a camera. Somehow those two things, the running and the light, never stopped chasing each other. This feels like a small proof that they were always meant to meet.

Thank you @saltytrailrunning for believing in the way I see the mountains, and to Stefan for the words. This one means more than I can explain.

After a few quiet days away from Instagram, I’m back with some photos from Yading, taken a few weeks ago.

We spent one afternoon around Chonggu Monastery, and the monks let us step inside for a while and see a little of their daily life. It was simple, quiet, and really special to experience.

Behind the monastery rises Mount Chenrezig, one of Yading’s three sacred peaks, 6.032 metres of rock, ice and hanging seracs.

I went there expecting the mountains to be the main story, but the people, the silence and the scale of the place stayed with me just as much.

Most of these photos were taken under very harsh midday light. We don’t always get to choose the perfect conditions, so sometimes we just have to adapt. Editing this set taught me a lot about balancing strong contrast and finding something I liked in light that initially felt far from ideal.

(A polarizer helps massively in conditions like these, the @benjaminhardman Artic @polarpro one I was using made a real difference).

A place I won’t forget anytime soon.

Yading Skyrace, China.

One of the wildest places I’ve ever had the chance to photograph.

After seven years away, the race returned to the @skyrunning, and these mountains delivered everything.

An incredible adventure, in an incredible place, with incredible people. Thank you all.

This won’t be my last time here.

At the end of a quiet street in Daocheng, I found a tiny Tibetan Buddhist temple I almost walked past.

Inside, a group of older local people were turning two large prayer wheels. In Tibetan Buddhism, these wheels contain written mantras, and turning them is a way of repeating the prayers inside. Then they walked around the temple as part of a practice called kora, prayer through movement.

We didn't share a language, but the camera gave me a way to approach them with respect. Sometimes, that is enough to create a small moment of trust between people from very different worlds.

That is why I love photographing people when I travel, not to collect faces, but to be briefly welcomed into someone else's world.

One of Yading’s three sacred mountains.
For centuries, pilgrims have crossed these valleys with these peaks watching over them.
Some still complete a journey of more than 100 km around the three sacred summits.
