„Spectral Roots is an interactive installation linking 19th-century and contemporary extraction. A projected tree morphs into cables and mineral crystals, referencing Palaquium gutta, a nearly extinct tree extracted under colonial rule to insulate the first submarine telegraph cables, and the rare minerals in today‘s devices. The piece is traversed by wireless signals from devices in the space, which reshape transitions and reveal that the invisible is anchored to matter extracted from the earth.“

My artwork “Spectral Roots” was part of Ars Electronica Festival 2026: Negotiating Humanity 🌱 @arselectronica

Presented in the main square alongside the ATTAC containers, in the context of Flood the Zone With Courage, the real-time application tracks Wi-Fi probe requests emitted by visitors’ phones. These invisible signals shape a tree projected onto three layered Hologauze screens, morphing into other shapes.

The installation was always listening to the signals in the room. Visitors could also reach in by toggling their phone’s Wi-Fi, sending a burst it might catch.

The artwork was developed within the @interface_cultures department as part of the Critical Data class, taught by the amazing professor Manuela Naveau.

Being, Between is an interactive installation that attempts to bridge distances and materialize the ephemeral traces that flow between bodies in an encounter. Participants are connected from different locations, and their biodata weave a shared experience. Transformed into tactile vibrations, their encounter becomes a dialogue between signal and flesh. What remains of connection when bodies speak through data? In an era of simulation, is the other truly there?

- SHARE YOUR DREAMS WITH A SICK TREE -

“I dream of trees” is an installation that explores the intersection of nature and human intervention, where a sick tree responds to the voice of visitors. The dialogue between dreams and decay materializes through a video that reacts to these interactions, questioning the possibility of emerging futures within a deteriorating environment.

The installation took place at Museum Kesselhaus Herzberge inside of a Psychiatry and Psychotherapy area, Lichtenberg - Berlin, as part of the @onsite_festival 2024, and it was the final piece from a two weeks of site-specific research.
