Absolutely delighted to announce our podcast series Gulf Streams launches today on KRVS Radio Acadie’s Après Midi. We commissioned 4x South Louisiana musicians to create new works in response to Dr Earl Robicheaux’s field recording of the Atchafalaya Basin and followed them on their journey. Tune in and soak up the sounds of the swamp 🐊

Episode 1 The Babineaux Sisters | May 20 3pm
Episode 2 Danny Devillier | May 27 3pm
Episode 3 Keith Frank | June 3 3pm
Episode 4 Trey Boudreaux | June 10 3pm

You can hear all commissioned pieces of music as part of the full Gulf Streams exhibition currently on display at The Hilliard Art Museum.

This podcast could not have been possible without the generous support from a Louisiana Project Grant @acadianacenterforthearts and the Dr Tommy Comeaux Endowed Chair of Traditional Music at UL Lafayette @ultradmusic taken in Atchafalaya Basin by @_gwennie

Delighted to say Gulf Streams is now open at the Hilliard Art Museum until mid august. It was a huge joy to curate this show featuring so many Louisiana musical and artistic legends.

I’ll be chairing a panel discussion next Thursday featuring participating artists Olivia Perillo and Danny Devillier, and folklorist Maria Zeringue. Then Trey Boudreaux will be playing with his band Palmetto. Come join!

At its heart, Gulf Streams is about listening - not just as something we do with our ears but as a way of connecting with the living world around us. The Atchafalaya Basin is at the centre of it all: one of North America’s richest wetlands and a landscape with many stories to tell. taken in Hilliard Art Museum by @_gwennie

Thrilled to share that Gulf Streams opens this weekend at The Hilliard Art Museum.

Curating this show has been a real labour of love - bringing together 11 incredible Louisiana artists and musicians who were each invited to create new works in response to Earl Robicheaux’s field recordings of the Atchafalaya Basin.

An accompanying podcast will be out on @krvsmedia this month.

I’ve just been alerted to the fact that our film EVELYN is apparently one of the most popular films to stream at the moment (at least according to Rotten Tomatoes). The film is up there with WEAPONS, SUPERMAN and KPOP DEMON HUNTERS. I’m not sure why this is but if these viewing stats are accurate then it’s sadly probably tied to how pressing suicide, grief and mental health struggles are globally at the moment.

Everyone struggles at some point. Let’s all look out for each other. #unitedagainstsuicide

what does a British girl and a Creole guy have in common?

Meet Gwennie von Einsiedel and Drake LeBlanc who both share a love for horses, Louisiana, and the Zydeco music that ties it all together.

Coming from two opposite ends of the world, Ridge, Louisiana and South London, United Kingdom, the two met on Gwennie’s directorial debut, Interrupting The Earth, her documentary about one of the rare women-led Trailride groups of Texas (The Texas Regulators).

When Gwennie was shopping around for camera operators, Drake (in true Creole boastfulness) told her he was the only cameraman in the state that could film this project from horseback and run into at least one of his cousins on the trailride. The two quickly became collaborators on multiple media projects surrounding black country culture in the south while simultaneously becoming close friends and zydeco dance partners.

This Saturday you can watch both documentary films, Interrupting the Earth and Footwork, while exploring all five senses of what it truly means to be immersed in the rich Creole Country culture of Louisiana.

It’s the last opportunity to see the Creole Cowboy exhibit, a follow-up documentation project produced by Drake LeBlanc showing the intricacies of what it means to be a Creole Cowboy, or cowgirl.

There will be hay, horses, music by the ULL Zydeco Ensemble, sneak peaks into 2026 projects, and an evening of great films and greater people.

Stay after the films for a peer led discussion between both directors.

Last night at @acadianacenterforthearts was one for the books. Together we raised $30,000 for the Clifton Chenier Memorial Scholarship which will support students studying Creole zydeco accordion on the UL Traditional Music Program 🪗

I also had the huge honour of joining CJ Chenier and the Red Hot Louisiana Band on stage for a song 🧡

Deep gratitude to everyone who came out, donated and celebrated. At a time when higher education in the US faces real challenges, scholarships like these are lifelines for students with the talent and drive to carry these traditions forward. taken in Acadiana Center for the Arts by @_gwennie
