When people asked me who my hero was or my role model I ALWAYS say my Nana. Every interview I’ve ever had I talked about her. She was 104, had 10 kids, and helped raise her 27 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren including myself, and 15 great-great-grandchildren.

She was resilient and sassy and loving and really was a super hero. She was an amazing woman who had the strength of a million armies who would say exactly what was on her mind. She was a confidant and an enforcer. She trained and raised us to be strong and independent, but remember family. She knew exactly how to hold everyone together.

And on Tuesday 10/20 she finished her journey here with us. She passed peacefully at home surrounded by loved ones. And she was absolutely beautiful.

I feel broken and numb but because my Nana taught me to be strong and resilient, I know that everything will be okay. Thank you to those who reached out to me and who sat with me, sat with me on the phone and kept me company during this extremely difficult time.

Due to COVID-19 only immediate family is gathering, but please feel free to reach out to us. Thank you for understanding.

Today is a hard day. For many of us we don’t get a chance to speak our truth, but I can. For many of us we suffer more than just bruises to our soul. So many silenced and so many slain. Scars heal with time, but don’t let anyone tell you u this one won’t reopen. We are women, not broken, not damaged..we are survivors. Though not everyone is ready to speak, you hav those of us who are here to educate, advocate and give a voice to a problem bigger than us. This is why I share my story. This is why I advocate. This is why I educate. So that victim-survivors have a voice and know that they are not alone. (4/16/2010)

I don’t usually take pictures but my God reminded me who I am, and exactly what I am deserving of….His true and perfect love.

“There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear, because fear has to do with punishment. The one who fears is not made perfect in love.” - ‭‭1 John‬ ‭4‬:‭18‬ ‭NIV‬‬ by @_happylex_

Sometimes when you think it’s over, God steps in and reminds you that He shines his light on you. That’s why I run to God each and every time. To The One who always loves us and holds us.

Today for the start of our series we discussed a deep question: “Does God really love me?

It’s easy to know it in our heads and hear it through our ears but harder to believe it in our hearts, Root yourself in the word and growth is assured.

We learned through the word today that God’s love is unlimited. We learned that God gave his son to release the world from the shackles of sins and to provide us with external life.

Join us next Saturday at 2pm to grow in Christ with those around you.

📖“And I am convinced that nothing can ever separate us from God’s love. Neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither our fears for today nor our worries about tomorrow—not even the powers of hell can separate us from God’s love.”

The Secret Life
Matthew 6:6
Deuteronomy 29:29 by @_happylex_

April showers were April storms for me.

I forgave, I was silent, I did the work, I said hard things, I pushed myself, I prepared myself and I spent a lot of time repenting and restoring. The wilderness is tough, but the good news is I didn’t have to do it alone. I have been encouraged and poured into and sat with and corrected.

Struggle is not a fruit of the spirit, but JOY is! And that’s what we’re focusing on for May! 💐 by @_happylex_

This was for me AND someone else!!

God said “I”

“Fear not, for I am with you; Be not dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, Yes, I will help you, I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.’”
