This past weekend was the 20th anniversary of me quitting drinking. I had stopped for 6 years in a prior attempt that didn't stick, but this one is forever.
No hangovers, blackouts or stoopid shit

Kristen, Flaca and I took a drive for the High Road studio tour with stops in Chimayo, Truchas (sugar nymphs), Amole Canyon for a hike and to chow down on massive slices of carrot cake! Mega sweet tooth here... And finished our drive through Sipapu, Mora and Las Vegas (NM). It was gorgeous and greening up after 2 weeks of rain, which continues now in week 3. Bring it on!

HesherD?!? WTF....I know you as Captain Ned, Lars, DaveO, Snake...or a myriad of other lesser used nicknames.
HesherD was given to me in college (NAU! NAU!) by a bro named Roland Shay. We partied, hung out, listened to music and even rode bikes now and then. A couple pics from a ride in either '89 or '90 are included. Helmetless for Rolando.

I had been getting sentimental about the decade I spent in Flagstaff, especially with all the posts from @flagstaffbikingorg and others in the area. Incredible trails systems in N AZ!

Anyways, it got me thinking and I came across some videos posted by guitarist extraordinaire @patrykderosa on his YouTube channel from a WeeLads Halloween show at Monsoons in 1991 (it's a Thai restaurant now). I added a poor photo from the night... If you come across the WeeLads cassette you can hear me on backing vocals. HA! Free beer was the fee.

You can find many videos from that night on Patryk's channel. There are a couple linked to my bio for your viewing pleasure.

As a 30+ year bicycle industry veteran, I have a bunch of old parts kicking around. My awesome wife Kristen @kmjazdesigns @gutinstinctthepodcast had the great idea of making a clock from some of them....like the 27.5" carbon rim that hadn't been ridden in a couple years. We bought a few spokes and a new clock motor/arms and put this together.

Here's a couple photos from my dog walk this morning. The brown cloud of smoke obscuring our Sangre de Christo mountain views is from the Frijoles fire.
Would the Santa Fe NF still be open if the Forest Service was fully funded and employed? We've seen closures in recent years that were not this dry...right!?

I hadn't ridden this loop in a year or so...each time I do, I wonder why I don't pedal it more often?!?
A nice mix of tar trail, gravel, singletrack, arroyos and a little bit of road right from the garage. Nothing huge - 32 miles and 2500' vertical. It made for a stellar morning before it got hot.
Hazy out there due to wildfire smoke. A new one ignited in the SFNF...lightning.
