🐺🩸 Two years ago today we published HYENA to honor the legacy of women’s surrealism. This title is SOLD OUT, but we are reprinting & will have copies available later this month. Edited by Cindy Rehm and Adrienne Walser, the publication includes works that look to the legacy of women’s surrealism, explorations of identity, inner-life, corporeality, ritual, eroticism, animality, and mortality. Inspired by Leonora Carrington, we took the hyena as our moniker for her feral and ravenous nature, her ability to provoke mix-ups in gender identity, and her proclivity for habitation in matriarchal clans. Thank you to all who have supported our work by attending events & workshops and buying our books! HEXENTEXTE is a DIY, labor of love founded by @cindyrehm in 2021. We operate with a self-sustaining model to produce small editions, with the hope of selling enough books to cover printing costs. Link in bio to RSVP @_kim_young_ Kim Young is an award-winning author of two books of poetry: Night Radio, winner of the Agha Ali Shahid Poetry Prize and finalist for the Kate Tufts Discovery Award, and Tigers, celebrated in reviews and described by Los Angeles Poet Laureate Lynne Thompson as “mesmerizing.” Her writing has appeared in Alta Journal, The Cincinnati Review, TriQuarterly, LitHub, Western Humanities Review, Barrelhouse, LA Review of Books, Los Angeles Review, and other magazines and anthologies. She edited the literary journal Chaparral, which featured interviews and new writing from Maggie Nelson, Jericho Brown, Victoria Chang and others. 🎯 Natacha Voliakovsky’s En la Mira (Target) (2024) will screen on Thursday 9/10 @poeticresearch @2220arts on as part of the launch event for our new series of hexlets. RSVP link in bio @natachavoliakovsky Natacha Voliakovsky (Buenos Aires, 1988; they/she) is a Buenos Aires- and New York-based artist whose practice navigates survival through the body, a site marked by violence, control, and desire. Working between collective actions, durational performances involving surgical interventions, and drawing, video, and sculpture, she engages Sudaca feminism, decolonial aesthetics, and radical autonomy through endurance and scarification, imagining the body as a battlefield scarred by trauma and the state. Her work has been presented at the Bogotá Biennial (2025), the Latin American Art Triennial (New York), and the DeformesTriennial (Chile). She was selected for the 112° Salón Nacional de Artes Visuales (2025) and has received the SU-CASA grant annually since 2023. In 2018, she founded Argentina Performance Art, a platform for the research and archive of performance in Argentina and its diaspora. ⭕️ Maxima Smith’s videos There You Are (2016) and Untitled (2017) will screen @poeticresearch @2220arts on Thursday 9/10 as part of the launch of our new series of hexlets. RSVP in bio ~ @maximasmith Maxima Smith is an artist based in London who works across moving image, installation, photography and performance. She uses reenactment to explore feminine archetypes, family relationships and how identity is constructed, performed and disrupted. Her works are often exhibited as multiple looping projections shown in installation.  Her practice approaches performance as a way of learning through (re)doing. Often casting family members and herself, she uses staged scenarios and repeated actions that explore how behaviour shifts when mediated by the camera. Her work has also been shown internationally including LADA (UK), the Nunnery Gallery (UK), De Sloot (NL), De Appel (NL), Theatre Bellevue (NL), Galerie Amu (CZ), Centrale Fies (IT), Magazzino Gallery (IT), and Oranssi (FI).
