โ€ข itโ€™s a bit /personal\ โ€ข this is an expression of being โ€˜the studentโ€™ in life; reflecting on mentorship and the mentor-student dynamic. Itโ€™s utterly impossible to verbalize the ways I am shaped by those who โ€œtake me under their wingโ€ - some say you never really accomplish anything alone ๐Ÿน I credit much of my *self* to the people who have taken this journey with me. Throughout life, I have been blessed with mentors. Theyโ€™ve appeared out of nowhere, always when I needed them most. Upon reflection โ€ข Iโ€™ve come to understand that this relationship is not possible without the ๐•™๐•ฆ๐•ž๐•š๐•๐•š๐•ฅ๐•ช โ€ข ๐•ฃ๐•–๐•ค๐•ก๐•–๐•”๐•ฅ โ€ข ๐•ฃ๐•–๐•ง๐•–๐•ฃ๐•–๐•Ÿ๐•”๐•– of the student. To surrender ego and open your mind as the seeker of someone elseโ€™s wisdom is vulnerable and uncomfortable. ๐•„๐•ช ๐•ฃ๐•ฆ๐•๐•– ๐•š๐•ค ๐•ฅ๐•™๐•š๐•ค: If I meet someone who knows multitudes about the things Iโ€™m fascinated with - when they walk their path with integrity and they have information or skills that I seek (thatโ€™s priceless) - so regardless of our age difference, proximity, whatever โ€ข I dare myself to get the nerve ~ to ask them to take me on as a student. Iโ€™ve watched this play out in ways that have been deeply enriching for both my mentor and I โ€ข remembering my divinity while simultaneously casting aside my judgments and assumptions in order to wholeheartedly acknowledge the other. to sit together โ€ข intent only on understanding the breadth of wisdom that teacher has accumulated, thereโ€™s a trust there that builds over time. I felt the need to share this because of the overwhelming gratitude I have for this dynamic. Every person can benefit from taking that step, and asking someone that you look up to (in your craft, in your profession, in a spiritual sense) to take you on as a student. To teach you something. Through yoga, meditation, somatic practice, emotional freedom techniques, some very COLD plunges, teary eyed video calls, and tarot card pulls ~ my teacher has helped to guide me into waters I perhaps would have never waded on my own ๐Ÿ’ง she is human, like me, and we are growing together, with love @soulshipsanctuary by @_hope.storm_
