This is my “hey guys, I’m a photographer now” post, not the engaged or pregnant post. But now that I have your attention…

It’s been one year since I left college coaching and went all in on my photography business. I had absolutely no idea how I was going to make things work, but I knew my stubborn ass would find a way.

Let’s take it back to May of 2024. I was on a trip with my mom. I had just finished a hard season and my stress levels were through the roof, so I said, fuck it, let me treat myself to the hotel spa and take my mind off things. I marched into the spa, sat down at the pool and happened to sit next to a professional photographer @black_aps

We got to talking because we all know how much I love talking to strangers. I told him I was struggling to find balance and happiness with coaching. We talked at length about photography and how it’s always been something I’ve wanted to pursue. A couple drinks later, he convinced me to take a chance on myself, buy a camera, and see what happens. So I did.

I knew I wanted to stay connected to sports. Luckily for me, my gym pumps out elite-level athletes, all of whom were kind enough to let me take photos of them. (Thank you @rachelclousing and I’m so sorry for all the horrible photos I’ve sent you.)

Hours of YouTube University and a year of free photo sessions later, I reached out to the @unitedgridleague and asked if they needed a photographer. To my surprise, they said yes! I’ve been fortunate to work with awesome businesses, events, athletes and next week I’ll be shooting at the CrossFit Games. (Thank you Dylan!)

My sports photography page will become a place for more than just sports photos moving forward. Thank you to everyone who has helped me and let me stick my camera in their sweaty face!

I’m excited to see where this takes me and no, I don’t do weddings, unless your name is Carol.

Shoutout @christinaveracreative for these epic photos and making sure I’m getting paid :) by @_hs.media_
