Artists come. Some blow; become stars. But some experience downfall in the industry.

While artists succeed and fail is complicated but most at times, the problem stems from lack of understanding of their rights which leads to engagement in unfair contracts that do not benefit them. Sadly, this has been a problem in the Nigerian music industry for years. As we reflect on the theme of the World Intellectual Property Day 2025, which is “IP and music: Feel the beat of IP”, the need for creating IP awareness, especially among creators cannot be underestimated.

You can get to know more about the various rights in the music industry by exploring platforms like the Creators Learn Intellectual Property (CLIP) platform.
