between may 15th to august 16th, i did something that i have been curious about doing since 2021: my yoga teacher training. i have been practising yoga for several years. however, i always felt a quiet awareness of how little i actually knew about its history and philosophical intentions. so, i finally decided. it was time to dive deep.

there are no words to describe how this teacher training changed my life for the better, but i will try my best to find some. seriously, what just happened to me ? i will be processing it for a while. every single day of the training faced me with every season of my emotional body and physical body. every day cracked me open and stitched me back together. it felt deeply reminiscent of vipassana, a 10 day silent meditation retreat i did in 2023. although vipassana is primarily rooted in buddhism and yoga in hinduism, they have both left me feeling similarly… in an amplified state of presence, connection and intuition. and i’ve always tended towards observing my life through a lens of loving curiosity, but that too has blossomed.

as for whether or not i will decide to pursue teaching yoga, that remains unclear to me. either way, this training was worth every single moment. if you have ever had a desire to do your yoga teacher training, even if only a flicker, absolutely do it. my yoga practice has changed forever and for the better. i look forward to continuing to show up on my mat with all of my heart, forever expanding my devotion to presence and my acceptance of the ebbs and flows of this wild, wonderful human experience.

thank you to my mentors: phoebe, iestyn, nadine and kerina. you all had me in awe. thank you for teaching with so much love, intention and grace.

and thank you to my fellow trainees: verity, izzy, adriana, kate, julie, hannah, and rodrigo. what a beautiful experience we shared. i’m honoured to have met all of you and to have been witness to each other’s growth.

tree trunk study from my solo hike this morning. i will never have the capacity to fully fathom just how ornate these case studies are, let alone the thousands of trees that completely passed me by. let alone everything in my home. or in a single room in my home. even in my own body. being alive is being in a state of never-ending awe. by @_indyana

‘hold on’ is track 6 off my debut album ‘the navy baby’ and it has always meant a great deal to me. i had a brief dance to it after filming a violin meditation with taylor in late april and, though my dancing was somewhat impromptu and unplanned, she hit record. i was unaware for the most part, assuming she was packing up while i drank in my final moments of being in this beautiful place… i guess what i’m trying to say is ‘thank you taylor’ because i’m really grateful that you waited a little longer before packing up.

children, gather around 🌞 i have news !

last night, i uploaded my first ever violin meditation to youtube and it’s making me feel reeaaally happy because i’ve been wanting to do something like this for several years. it’s just under 18 minutes long and my beautiful sister taylor helped me film it in belgrave some weeks ago.

hmm, suddenly i feel a potent urge to note down some things that this experience made me feel grateful for, so that’s what i’ll do…

this song awakens little me. a hazy memory, but a powerful one. maybe i’m 4 or 5. i feel peace. i feel safety. the sun seems to be shining. i can feel my parents close by. my sister too. my body instinctively knows how to breathe deep, full breaths. all is well. by @_indyana

iceland, november 26 ~ december 28.

grieving myself.
loving myself.
moving.

i don’t have a whole lot to say. when i think of my time in iceland, it renders me still and grateful and almost nonverbal. a 10 year goal of mine. nothing like what i was anticipating it would be… nothing but everything that my soul was needing in that moment. but i have to thank the beautiful @arnordan one last time for letting me stay in his home with him and his daughter for such a long period of time. arnór is a very bright light in my life. he encourages me to be all of myself in every moment of every day and it was really special, for both of us, to finally meet in person after a year of video chatting from opposite sides of the world. until next time dear friend. by @_indyana
