Cap and Gun Straight A student with a 4.0 GPA in school When he hit the streets he gotta clutch his tool A stand out academic achiever within those walls, As his name's announced for honor roll he receives a thunderous round of applause. Pencil in hand running up his grades, when he walks the streets though, its fight, flight, or a one way trip to the grave Juggling projects and presentations while surviving the projects and resisting temptation, the last thing on his mind is highschool graduation Teachers telling him to prepare for college while his mom is telling him to stay out of trouble and get a job, the priest is telling him to have faith and accept God plus his plug keeps calling and it's all causing his veins to pulse and making his head throb Can't serve two masters let alone four, he's being stretched thin and doesn't know what to do anymore Throw away a promising future or abandon familiarity and home for greater pursuits ? Walk the aisle with a tasseled cap on his head, or run the streets, catch a hollowed cap in the head and have his mom frying fish for funeral bread ?
