Hello beautiful humans! Thank you for your interest in INTERCONNECTION and what we are offering to you, our community. We thought we would take some time to say hello and offer you a bit of our “birth story” and expand upon the intention of our event. We are so grateful to all of you for your support and openness to what we have created. We couldn’t do this without you, and you are the reason we want to continue. We love you and look forward to many moments of shared expression together. ✨💖✨ by @_interconnection

THIS IS WHY WE DO IT!!! Our hearts are exploding from the amount of positive feedback that has come pouring in following our first event that was fully open to the public. These words and others that are not shared here are why we are doing this. We believe in the power of intention and the collective ✨magic✨ that can be created when everyone who is participating is on the same page. When we work in harmony, ⚡️powerful⚡️ things can happen! Of course the music, the lights, the environment, they are all major players in the experience (set and setting is key as we all know) but intention…intention of how that space is utilized, why we are there, how we hold the space for ourselves and others…intention plays a vital role in the kind of experience we have. INTERCONNECTION has a universal intention and it is seen and felt in the space! Everyone is on the same wavelength. Everyone is taking care of one another and themselves simultaneously. And that is absolutely pure ✨magic✨!!!!

Deepest gratitude to everyone who has attended. Thank you all for your support, your trust, and your willingness to listen, understand, and follow through with the guidelines. Without this, these experiences wouldn’t be possible (or would be few and far between). This truly is a collective effort and each participant plays a vital role in the kind of experience everyone gets to have. Much love and gratitude for you all!

When I (Jenn) was brainstorming for what to name this dance series, I filled multiple pages with words and phrases to describe the myriad of things I experience on dance floors. As I read the list, there were multiple types of connection. When I spoke with our resident DJ Dani (@deep.fried.calamari ) she helped me find the word INTERCONNECTION. It was perfect! It speaks to that beautiful symbiotic relationship between the DJ (music) and the bodies of those dancing in the room. It is ALL of the shared energy combined. Everything in a dance space plays a role in the experience: the DJ, the lighting, the sound, the atmosphere, the people around you. We are all interconnected. And this goes beyond the dance floor! We are of the earth, we are in community, we are connected to everything. We affect everything around us and everything around us, affects us. When we understand that and approach each decision intentionally and with love and care…it can be some powerful ✨magic✨. by @_interconnection

I’d like to take a moment to appreciate the artist and human who created our flier for our final event, @nickfieldse. Nick is a dear friend of mine, so I have the pleasure of knowing how intentional he is about his work. And intention is a huge part of what makes INTERCONNECTION so special and unique. Nick understands this and was just as thoughtful about his flier design. He took inspiration from a diagram in his college acoustics textbook. Knowing that @sunlit.sound makes the 3 main pillars of the event: audio, lighting, location…he placed them at the top, and they are the 3 bands that run through the entire design. And then @_interconnection is the “what” and @tduvante is the “who”. Everything about our event is done with a high level of intentionality and I deeply appreciate that Nick chose to approach his art for our flier with that same level of care. Nick is not only a talented artist, he is also a lover of cats (photo evidence provided), an absolutely amazing human, a multi instrumentalist, and an incredible DJ! Follow him at @earthworm.wav. Thank you for this beautiful work Nick! 💖 by @_interconnection

Columbus, you have been blessed with quite a special tour guide for this round of INTERCONNECTION! If you are part of the local underground house & techno scene, our DJ for this experience needs no introduction. For those of you who are not already familiar with Titonton Duvante, I am so excited to have the privilege of introducing you to him! Born and raised in Columbus, Ohio, Titonton has been producing his own music since 1990, DJing since 1993, and had his first vinyl release in 1995. He has released music on some of the world’s most renowned record labels and has played festivals and nightclubs globally, in cities such as Bangkok, Beijing, Berlin, Chicago,Detroit, London, Mexico City,New York, Paris, Reykjavik,São Paulo, Tokyo, and beyond. To say this man is a legend is an understatement. But it’s not just Titonton’s extremely impressive resume in this industry that made me choose him for INTERCONNECTION. Titonton was chosen because of how it feels to be on a dance floor he has at his fingertips (and sometimes his elbows…IYKYK). I don’t know how to describe Titonton as a DJ in a technical sense, but I can describe him from a felt sense. In my opinion, Titonton’s sound cannot be defined by any genre or list of technical terms, because he plays from his body and soul. This means Titonton’s sound is uniquely his and expands beyond the bounds of technical jargon. When he is behind the decks, you can both see his deep emotional connection to the music and feel that connection in your body as you’re dancing. Titonton clearly understands that this music can be deeply emotional, powerful, and healing. And that is why he was intentionally selected to play at INTERCONNECTION. His relationship with music is intertwined with his body, and as a dancer, that means his deep connection can take you somewhere deep inside yourself...should you allow yourself to follow where he can guide you.
*Something else worthy of noting: in late 2022, Titonton made a conscious choice to DJ sober, and it is even in his DJ rider. As an alcohol-free dance space, this alignment did not go unnoticed. It is truly an honor and a privilege to co-create this experience with @tduvante 🫶 by @_interconnection

The final iteration of INTERCONNECTION is going to be such a special one! I will say more in weeks to come about our musical tour guide for the night @tduvante , as well as the artist behind the flier design, @nickfieldse. Today I want to express my personal gratitude for both of them, and the ways they’ve held me on my own journey of healing both on and off dance floors. Both of these humans hold a lot of emotional depth and capacity. This is felt by them musically, and in friendship. To have both of their support for this final event is extremely special to me! And for all of YOU 😮‍💨😮‍💨😮‍💨 get ready for a full night of Titonton on the decks! This OG has been exploring the ways to hold bodies on a dance floor through a journey of exploration since the 90’s. To say it is an honor and a privilege that he accepted my request is an understatement. And I am absolutely thrilled to present this gift to you as my final offering of INTERCONNECTION as we currently know it.
Saturday: 10/10
8pm-12am

@sunlit.sound appreciation post 😍🙌💖😮‍💨❤️‍🔥🫶🌀 Just look at this undeniably BEAUTIFUL dance floor! What a dancer’s dream! (It’s definitely mine!) Last night I got to spend 6 hours with Kali & Lily while they tinkered around with every possible lighting combination they could muster up, and explored the depths of their sound system for archival purposes. I have loved @kalcyonandon & @comrade_lily_ since the day I met them. But being blessed with the opportunity to collaborate with them on one of my dream dance projects has only given me a deeper appreciation for who they are as humans, and how their brains operate when it comes to their audio and visual work. 🤯🤯🤯 These girls have traveled all over the world studying the best sound systems and immersive lighting/environments and have brought all of their favorite elements to their space in Columbus. It is absolutely not lost on me how privileged I am to be trusted to collaborate in this gift of a space! To work with 2 people who truly understand the importance of set and setting for a powerful dance experience is an absolute dream! It’s hard to believe they have even more things they want to add in, but I am so excited to be part of its evolution! Thank you Kali and Lily for your gift to our community and for being such a gift in my life. You are helping my dreams come true and I can never thank you enough for that! ❤️‍🔥❤️‍🔥❤️‍🔥Keep your eyes open for our October announcement. It may be the last INTERCONNECTION Columbus gets to experience and trust me, it’s one you don’t want to miss! (Final photo is @kalcyonandon laying on the subs, which I later found is the BEST spot in the house!) by @_interconnection

For those of you who missed our inaugural event, and for those of you who were there that want to re-live the sonic ✨magic✨ that our resident DJ @deep.fried.calamari created… a sampling of her set is available via her SoundCloud (link in bio).
We chose Dani as our resident DJ not just because she is hella talented, but also because she was a dancer first, so she understands how to guide a dance floor for a proper experience inward. Dani was first trained in contemporary and jazz dance, and then went into breakdancing in high school/her early 20s. She also taught intro to footwork to kids in Dayton, OH, which is what led her to house music and techno, shaping her to become the DJ we all know and love today. by @_interconnection

INTERCONNECTION is not music to “see” at bar, or a social “party”. It is a safe space to be fully present with yourself and to listen to your body. The music will guide you to what needs your attention. And the safe space will allow you to be with and express whatever it is that you find on your journey within. by @_interconnection
