Triathlon Season Final 2026

My very first Sprint Triathlon: 300m swim, 18.7 km bike, 4.6 km run finished in under 1:15:00!

For me, this was an entirely unusual kind of challenge. On such a short, explosive distance, it’s not about strategic pacing or fueling — it's purely and simply about going all in on the course from the very first second.

Overall, I am genuinely happy with the result.

Despite carrying some fatigue and pre-load from Erkner, I managed to deliver a strong time and, most importantly, had an absolute blast out there under a glorious late-September sun (~28°C).

The 300m in the 25m indoor pool went by so quickly it was almost over before it began. A clean, solid execution from start to finish, and straight out to transition.

The only minor drawback? The pool was packed. When it comes to swimming, I definitely prefer the freedom of open water!

18.7 km with 291 meters of elevation spread across 3 punchy, curvy laps right through the vineyards.

Those climbs cost me a serious amount of energy, but the descents were fast!

Averaging 27 km/h feels satisfying given the technical layout, the continuous elevation changes, and the warm weather.

After that demanding bike course, to be completely honest, there was barely any power left in the legs.
Time to grit the teeth, push through 3 laps with 44 vertical meters, and march across the finish line with a heart rate peaking at 192 bpm.

If this race taught me one thing, it's this:

In a sprint triathlon, you can truly give every single ounce of energy you've got.

First IRONMAN 70.3 🏅✅
SWIM | BIKE | RUN

After months of training, it finally all paid off. In the beautiful town of Erkner near Berlin, I took on my first middle-distance race. A breathtaking atmosphere, incredible volunteers, and organizers helped me push past my limits. Despite my doubts, I achieved my personal goal of finishing in under 6 hours. A perfect race, a perfect day, and a lasting memory.

The water was a crisp 18.5°C, offering a refreshing wake-up call as 8:00 AM arrived. When the starting gun finally echoed across the lake, an unforgettable race officially began.
I focused on a smooth, controlled swim—deliberately keeping a relaxed pace to save my energy for the demanding disciplines ahead. More than just the stats, it was the incredible people I met along the way that truly made those water meters special.

Moving on to the cycling, things went much smoother than anticipated. I powered through the beautiful nature of Berlin-Brandenburg, covering the 90 km in under 3 hours. The rain in the first hour made handling a bit challenging, but it turned out to be a welcome refreshment. A huge milestone: it was the first time I managed an average speed of over 30 km/h over this distance.

Then came the run. The spectators truly carried me through the final half marathon. Alongside other incredible triathletes who kept me motivated across the four laps, I crossed the finish line feeling controlled, happy, and thoroughly exhausted. An unforgettable moment. As the saying goes: the training is the race, and the race is the victory lap!

Without your friends and family there is no IRONMAN.
