Oh, Southern U,

You have given me experiences that turned into lifelong friendships, meaningful networks, and unforgettable memories.

Today is the day I graduate Cum Laude, a student of the Dean’s and Chancellor’s Lists, having traveled to three countries, served as a Residential Assistant, a Project PEER Navigator, past president of Omega Tau Pi Sorority, Inc. the Alpha Chapter. And the list continues!

Did I graduate within the “normal” four-year timeline? No. I thought I knew what I wanted, but God knew exactly what I needed. I stumbled, I failed and God rerouted me, guiding me onto the path He had prepared for me all along. Because of Him, I gained what I truly needed, met friends who will last a lifetime, and traveled to three countries in two summers experiences I could have never imagined.

Southern, thank you for giving me a space to both fail and succeed. Thank you for shaping me, challenging me, and believing in me. Forever grateful. 💙💛

Many only see the results of others’ achievements, but they don’t understand the sacrifices and challenges that happen along the journey.

This smile is big and bright, but behind it came tears, bags, and long days and nights. Yet it’s also filled with accomplishments that little me would be so grateful for.

When I came to Southern, I told my parents, “Southern will know my name.” I’m grateful for the mark l’ve made and for everyone who has made an impactful mark on me.

Here’s to the next chapter of my journey because this is only the beginning 💫
