I have a lot to say. But let’s start here: I’ve learned a lot about myself over the last six months. I’m proud of myself. I have the best support system in the world.

I truly believe I put the work in, sometimes it just doesn’t all come together on race day. For the first 16 miles, I was feeling pretty great! Then, I started cramping.

I was pretty frustrated because I fueled properly with electrolytes for two days. I executed my game plan, but my body just wasn’t having it…and that’s okay!

From there I began to shut down. Mentally and physically. I alternated between a walk and run for the last 10 miles.

I did not hit my goal of a sub 4 hour marathon. 4:38. But I finished! And I had three of my favorite people there with me cheering me on and taking pictures and videos the whole time. Thank you, Carrolann, Marcus and Megan. I couldn’t have done it without you.

Now, it’s time to recover, build and demolish that sub 4 hour goal! I’m not trying, I’m training!

Medal Monday! This race was slated for to be a PR race. However, I have been fighting illness for quite a while. I wasn’t sure I would even be able to run. BUT, I rallied and got it done (1:53:37)! This was a reminder to run your own race, be present and encourage those running beside me. Time to keep chasing! by @_jacobtackitt

Medal Monday. This is the only picture I have from race day. Though it wasn’t ideal weather conditions, we still got it done! 2:02:33 ——> 1:49:58. Big 12 minute and 35 second PR! Would NOT have been possible without my supportive wife (@carrolann), a bunch of Run Bosses(@5run2_atx) and the best coach (@markpinales). @satxmarathon was a blast. Onward! by @_jacobtackitt

Yesterday was crazy and I didn’t get a chance to post, so today it is! Carrolann, my love, you deserve the world. You’re the best wife, mom and friend. I love that I get to celebrate you every day, not just on your birthday. I love this picture of you because it’s a glimpse into how intentional you are at loving and serving our family so well.
