56 days until the inaugural @wpbl_official season where players like @_jamiemackay_ get to make their mark on the history of Women’s Professional Baseball.
Growing up in California, Jamie played baseball with the guys through high school and earned a spot on the 2019 USA baseball women’s national team. At the 2019 COPABE Pan-American Championships, she was named the tournament’s top relief pitcher after helping lead Team USA to a gold medal. Due to a lack of opportunity, Mackay made a pivot to softball upon entering college where she spent three seasons as a highly versatile catcher and outfielder for Ole Miss, helping lead the Rebels to multiple NCAA Tournament appearances. For her final season of eligibility, Mackay moved to the University of South Carolina as a graduate transfer catcher for the Gamecocks.

Like many women who play baseball, Jamie Mackay made the hard choice to switch from baseball to softball after high school.

From the moment she left baseball behind, it's been calling her back.

This August, she’ll return to the sport that has always had her heart, playing for @wpbl_la in the inaugural season of the WPBL.

Softball, you weren’t in my life for a long time but the impact that you have left will be with me forever. Thank you for leading me to some of my best friends and most cherished memories. Through you I have learned how to be confident and strong even when I definitely don’t feel like it.

To Ole Miss, Oxford will forever feel like a home away from home. Thank you for taking a chance on a girl who had never played an inning of softball before and welcoming her with open arms. While our time together was cut short I will forever be indebted to you for the relationships I was able to build there.

To South Carolina, I don’t have the words to fully describe how much you mean to me. Thank you to my teammates who made me feel at home right away. Thank you to the coaches and staff for helping me take my guard down and growing me in ways I never thought I could grow. It may have taken three and a half years, but I’m blessed that I finally was able to mature into the player I always knew I could be! Forever to Thee!

Lastly, to my family, none of this would have been possible without all the sacrifices you guys made for me to compete at the highest levels. Thank you to my Mom, Dad, and Hailey for always having my back and loving me through it all. I hope I made you proud.
