It’s already been exactly a month since my first solo show at @bprojectspace . I know i’ve been slacking on the socials but I wanted to finally put it up here to reflect on. I’m honoured to have wrote a poem for @nayelliss_ debut EP ‘You Just Want To Sleep’ 🪅 Every element of this poem I think encapsulates our never ending journey in our own internal worlds. ‘All in all’

I’m pleased to present to you a free downloadable wallpaper (for mobile devices) commissioned by @pinterestuk and @livityuk The inspiration for this piece came from the theme of the series being ‘Represent: Blackness’. Inspired by the work of Hilma Af Klint and my own work I wanted to create a piece that depicts the reflection of ourselves in humanity. We are all a piece of each others puzzle illustrated by the figure in green mirrored by the community that supports them.

I hope to see some lock screens with this wallpaper. It was so fun to work on a project I really enjoy speaking about and encapsulating in my work in general as an artist.

Once again big thanks to @livityuk for believing in me for this project and @pinterestuk for wanting my work to be a part of this.

Talk it out - Danny Bones OUT NOW

A bit different from my usual posts but big love to @_dannybones for allowing me to have my acting debut 🤓
Working on this project was so beautiful and to see it come to life in all its glory had been monumental. Big up him and everybody involved
Also @dudleynganjo on the videography! So honoured we could have him be a part of this project as well as @live.lago for the beautiful photos at the end of the music video - so now you have to watch till the end 😉

A busy month ahead my loves, I don’t know what good sleep entails anymore but i’m enjoying witnessing becoming best friends with my potential and i’m so grateful to have you all with me on this journey so big love fr

The line up for the month is as follows:

⭐️12-13th/13:00-22:00pm
I’ll be showing some pieces from Come to my rescue at peckham levels curated by moses
Black magic aims to uplift and centre black and non binary creatives. I’ll be selling some copies of my book the evening of the 13th too if you haven’t had a chance to cop 📚 Tickets in my bio 🎟️

⭐️11th-23rd/18:30pm to 22:30
Exploring beauty, grace and creativity the piece pallet have a exhibition running for a couple weeks with a panel talk i’ll be speaking at on the 11th on opening night too 🥳Ticket link in the piece pallet bio 🎟️

⭐️16-19th/18:00-21:00pm
I’ll be showing a couple of pieces at Bermondsey project space again😏

Iterations of a piece i’m working on entitled ‘There, I said it’

This painting I feel like hits close to home for a lot of us youts regarding our relationships with our families/parents coming into adulthood. The need to hide sinks in comparison to our desire to be understood and it can be strenuous if the relationship has come from shaky beginnings. Phrases such as ‘you’ve got a roof over your head, water to drink, food to eat, stop crying before i give you something to cry about, I gave birth to you and i can take you right out’ come to mind, yet all these things don’t replace genuine connection and love.

Breaking cycles feels like an obligation once you become aware of yourself and how you want to live your life and I think there’s often anxiety that they just won’t understand. Having gone though this with my own parents Im aware that I’m privileged to be on good terms with them but I know the same cannot be said for a lot of my loved ones and our community in general. How best do we go about bridging those gaps?
