Then you get the fresh pomegranate, which gives it this juicy, tart flavor while the elderflower adds a soft sweetness.

It’s giving the transition that DC weather completely skipped over 😂 IYKYK!

Mint Limeade Spritzer 🍋‍🟩

Yesterday I stopped by @coladashop for their Hora Feliz and I’m so glad I did!

House rum + mint limeade…

THAT’S IT!

And simple doesn’t mean boring…

The fresh mint gives it that garden-fresh flavor while the lime keeps everything bright and citrusy 🍋

The rum is definitely there, but it doesn’t overpower the drink, which makes this one dangerously easy to keep sipping.

Tart!
Refreshing!
And a little sweet!

Sometimes you don’t need a long ingredient list, you just need the flavors to make sense.

Elixir of Life 🌿

One sip and there I was frolicking through the meadows 😌

WHY do I feel like I should be barefoot somewhere picking wildflowers 🌼

Once again @thealchemistdc has me drinking gin without complaining about it 🤫

The elderflower gives it this soft floral sweetness while the dandelion tea brings in an earthy, almost herbal flavor…

I’ve had Elixir of Life TWICE now and both times it was AMAZING!

It’s officially my FAVORITE cocktail ♥️

It actually wonBest Cocktail at the 2024 DC Cocktail Festival 🏆

And I genuinely understand why!

Scarlet Letter 🌿

Dry, fruity, straightforward and flirty at the same time.

Gin
Apricot
Dry Vermouth
Lemon
Foam Bitters
Grenadine

Imagine a Martini and an Aperol Spritz (minus the spritz) had a little situation going on 😏

It gives “I CAN be sweet BUT I’d rather be blunt.”

And I LOVED that about it!

The apricot and grenadine bring just enough fruitiness, the lemon keeps it bright, and the dry vermouth pulls everything together before it gets too sweet.

And it’s @thealchemistdc, so of course there’s a little added fun with a glowing smoke bubble 🫧

Pop the bubble and THEN get down to business.

And yes…

this is ANOTHER gin drink LOL!

Wake The Dead 💀

Halloween vibes have arrived ahead of schedule this year with a scary combination of ingredients…

Banana Coconut Rum
Espresso
Vanilla
Honey
Foam Bitters

I was terrified of what this would actually taste like but I was pleasantly surprised!

The espresso gives you the rich coffee flavor you expect, the vanilla and honey add the perfect amount of sweetness, and the Banana Coconut Rum shows up without turning it tropical 🥥

It’s well-balanced and completely different from the espresso cocktails I’m used to.

No ingredient was trying too hard. Nothing got lost!

@thealchemistdc continues to remind me that creativity doesn’t always have to mean complicated!

Sometimes it’s just flavors you wouldn’t think to put together…

I can’t wait to try more of the seasonal cocktails 🍂

The Blair Spritz 🍹

Sometimes the menu gives you a combination that requires absolutely NO convincing…

Vodka
Blackberry
Elderflower
Lemon
Lime
Mint

When I saw it I said, “I’m DEFINITELY ordering that.”

The blackberry gives it that juicy, slightly tart fruitiness while the elderflower softens everything with subtle floral notes. The lemon, lime, and fresh mint come through to make the whole cocktail bright and refreshing.

It’s fruity without being overly sweet, floral without tasting like perfume, and dangerously easy to drink.✨

And I think that’s what I liked most about this one.

There was nothing I had to figure out. No flavor I had to search for. It was good from the first sip and stayed good until the last.

At a bar where I’ve had cocktails glow, smoke, and literally catch on fire, The Blair Spritz doesn’t need any of that to make its point.

Blair knows exactly what she’s doing 🔮

And if the rest of @thealchemistdc’s new seasonal menu is anything like what I’ve tried so far, they definitely gave us a reason to come back this season! 🍂

Killer Sally 🔥

If you know me, you know I have a complicated relationship with gin because WHY does it usually taste like 13th century cough syrup?! 🤨

But when I saw the ingredients for Killer Sally, I felt like it was the perfect opportunity to conquer my fear.

Made with gin, lavender, lemon, and rhubarb, I was fully prepared for a botanical overload but…

I WAS WRONG!!

The gin basically disappeared behind the combination of floral lavender and tart rhubarb.

It was bright, smooth, and slightly sweet. If you didn’t tell me there was gin in it, I probably wouldn’t have guessed!

And because it’s @thealchemistdc, they couldn’t just give me a cocktail…

They SET IT ON FIRE 🔥

The flame lightly charred the garnish, adding just a hint of smokiness to the first sip!

A little drama AND a purpose ✨

Killer Sally may have officially convinced me that gin and I don’t have to be enemies after all…

I just needed a proper introduction!

Give Me Butterflies 🦋

Somehow I ordered ANOTHER gin cocktail… willingly 🤫

Give Me Butterflies is made with house-infused butterfly pea gin and lemon, which sounds simple until you realize this cocktail has a little trick up its sleeve…

It changes color right in front of you 🔮✨

At this point, I’m starting to think @thealchemistdc is determined to change my mind about gin!

But after admiring the transformation, I still had one question…

“Am I about to taste the gin?” 🤨

Surprisingly, NO!

It was bright, citrusy, refreshing, and way easier to drink than my relationship with gin would suggest.

Between the actual beaker 🧪, the color transformation, and that gorgeous purple glow, @thealchemistdc definitely lived up to its name with this one!

And apparently, somewhere behind that bar is a potion that’s slowly turning me into a gin drinker too 🫣

It’s all Killer Sally’s fault LOL!

The Lioness 🦁🌸

Okay so at this point I might have to stop saying I don’t like gin 🤭

Somehow The Lioness at Teddy & The Bully Bar made its way in front of me and once again, gin and I got along just fine.

Even with gin as the base, it didn’t feel too overpowering.

Botanist Gin
Vanilla-infused Vermouth
Lemon
House-made Cherry Jam 🍒

The cherry gave it a rich, fruity flavor while the lemon kept everything bright, and that little hint of vanilla softened the edges without making the drink overly sweet.

It’s one of those cocktails that gives you a new flavor with every sip.

Halfway through the glass you realize you made a VERY good decision.

At this rate, I fear my gin slander may have an expiration date 🤭

Banana Bread Rum Old Fashioned 🍌🥃

Yes, I ordered an Old Fashioned but THIS is not what I expected 💀

At @alchemistbardc, even a classic comes with a little drama!

It glowed red, was covered in smoke, and my favorite detail of all… a skull sitting on top like a warning for the dangerously amazing flavors underneath 😂

Then the reveal…

Infused rum with banana, coconut, and a dash of walnut created the perfect balance of smoky and sweet.

And when I tell you…

IT LITERALLY TASTES LIKE BANANA BREAD 🤯

Old Fashioneds are usually a little too strong for me, but this had the perfect balance. You still get that spirit-forward character you expect from an Old Fashioned, but the banana, coconut, and walnut soften it just enough without making it overly sweet.

The Alchemist understood the assignment ✨

The presentation got my attention, but the flavor is what would make me order it again.
And trust me… they’ll definitely be seeing me again very, VERY soon 😌

@lamarcaprosecco Rosé is one of those bottles I’ll reach for without needing a reason 🩵

That’s what I love about Prosecco. Not every bottle has to wait for a special occasion. Sometimes opening the bottle is the occasion…
