Me and Trigon are off to Colchester in a couple of weekends with @theminories where I’ll be showing and screening all 122 drawings from my animation Trigon Sequence.

We’ll be at their new space, Minories Central, on 10-11th October, 10am-4pm.

There’ll also be a drop-in participatory animation taking place where you can have a go at making one yourself!

I’ve always thought modernist architecture works best alongside nature, but drawing trees has always felt pretty daunting. Being surrounded by them at my new studio this summer felt like the right time to look closely at these weird wooden structures growing out of the ground.

I’m continually surprised by how much character they have, especially in pairs - the way branches frame a landscape, trunks block and reveal, and their tops reach off in similar or completely different directions. No regard for the space around them. Architectural in their own knotty way.

These drawings feel very much like starting points, but I do now feel more prepared to take on some more greenery. taken in Harlow, Essex by @_jcook

Over the summer, @jakehusband_ @samjroper and I have made studios in the former home of twentieth-century architect and master planner, Sir Frederick Gibberd, working from its upstairs rooms and spending the season settling into the space, finding new routines and slowly learning the pace of the Grade II listed garden.

Through drawing, photography and film making, the exhibition brings together different ways of looking, listening and finding a way through the landscape - from fallen trees forming new openings, to carefully considered medium-format photographs exploring the varied terrains and sculptures, and a motion picture telling the gardens story through the movements of interpretive dance.

Please join us for the opening this Sunday, September 6th, 2-5pm.

The show will run every Wednesday and Sunday of September, 2pm - 5pm, £6 entry fee

Thank you @thegibberdgarden ⭐
