In this week’s edition of Trailblazers and Changemakers: Remarkable Women And Allies Making A Difference, we shine a well-deserved spotlight on a rising star in the world of communication—Jinell Dezonie.

At just 23 years old, Jinell is already making her mark at the University of Technology (UTech), Jamaica, where she is currently pursuing a Bachelor of Arts in Communication and Technology. Hailing from the vibrant and picturesque parish of Portland, Jamaica, she brings with her not only the warmth of her roots but a steadfast drive to succeed in the fast-paced world of media and communications.

I had the distinct pleasure of working with Jinell on an event I produced recently in Montego Bay, and I was immediately struck by her professionalism, poise, and unwavering commitment to excellence.

Motivated by her deep faith and the belief that “with Christ, all things are possible,” Jinell is steadily building a career marked by vision, intention, and heart. Her academic pursuits have served as a strong platform for honing her leadership skills, attention to detail, and strategic thinking—qualities that have positioned her as a standout among her peers.

Currently, Jinell is co-leading the marketing and PR efforts for the much-anticipated Media Magnified Exhibition 2025, the final-year showcase produced by graduating students of the Communication Arts and Technology programme. Alongside her colleague, Shara Sydni Stewart, she is managing a team responsible for everything from event branding and promotion to audience engagement—an undertaking that highlights her capacity to manage complex projects with grace and clarity.

With a flair for storytelling, a sharp mind for strategy, and an unwavering commitment to making a difference, Jinell Dezonie is undoubtedly one to watch. Her journey is just beginning, but her impact is already being felt.
