This marks one semester of staying off social media. I made the change looking to see improvements in productivity and mental clarity. What I found is that being disconnected is just as satisfying as said. That numb feeling in my head dissolved. Letting comparison out of my head allowed me to really feel as if I could just be happy at my own pace. You start to unlock creativity. Relationships that were conserved only because you had someone’s Snapchat start to become unimportant to you. What you find important are the people that ask how you’ve been, and the ones that want to spend time with you even if it’s just for a lunch. But above all, you find yourself face to face with experiences not worrying about saving the entire moment to your phone. You allow yourself to live your life through your own eyes, and not everyone else’s.

So you’re probably reading this like dude, you’re back on instagram. I’ve thought it to be beneficial to keep a scrap book going of how time passes, especially throughout college. This can help as a reference to myself, and others because it sounds downright cool to be able to look back in 50 years, all the way down to the first post.

And of course, this is only a comparison to how leaving social media has helped my mental state in the short run. I recommend that you give it a try too.
